Expansion Rules
This expansion adds four new subway timetables for the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Sendai.
Osaka and Nagoya again have a ring line. In each turn you decide anew in which of the two arrow directions you enter the crosses.
For Nagoya and Sendai there is also a small race: whoever first manages to fill at least one window in every line receives additional victory points. To do this, mark the small circle next to the letter in the right-hand victory point overview as soon as you make the first entry in a car window of a line.
Whoever has marked all lines first circles the 4 victory points in the diamond and announces this at the end of the round. All other players cross out the 4 victory points in the diamond. If several players reach the goal in the same round, they all receive the 4 victory points. The same procedure applies to 2nd and 3rd place.
Attention: all further placings do not receive any additional victory points.
Figure captions on the insert: "first to mark all circles" and "all others".
In Sendai, line G has two terminuses, a and b, but only one car with three windows. As with the ring line, you decide anew with each entry which direction to take at the junction.
Lines A and F represent the north-south line and the east-west line of Sendai. Each has car windows at both ends and therefore no terminus. The lines can be approached from either side, according to the known rules, and count as completed when all stations of a line are marked.
Solo Game
If you play alone, the following additional rules apply.
You only receive the additional 4 victory points for the race in Nagoya and Sendai if you have marked exactly 1 car window in each line. If you have entered 1 car window more, you receive 2 victory points; if you have entered 2 car windows more, you receive 1 victory point. With 3 or more car windows you receive no additional points.
Note (printed on the insert): In honour of the author Hisashi Hayashi, cities from his country of origin, Japan, were chosen for this expansion. Nagoya and Sendai do not actually have enough subway lines, but because the author has personal connections to these cities, intercity lines were also added here to keep the flow of play.
