Playing as a Pair

This sheet is for playing as a couple.

  • Play secretly, without looking at your partner's sheet.
  • You may start wherever you like on the sheet.
  • Then follow the so-called "classic" rules of Trek 12: Himalaya, with the specifics below.

Intensity: Test Your Love

  • Cells with a rose icon represent PASSION love.
  • At the end of the game, each cell with a rose scores you as many points as the value written in that cell.
  • If the cell is an orphan (orphelin), a rose cell scores 0 points.

Orphan cells represent the volatility of your feelings: thoughts for... others... Each orphan cell inflicts 10 points of MALUS (penalty).

Total score. Your TOTAL SCORE = zones + chains + roses − volatility. This total is the intensity of your love for your partner. Read it on the Love Meter, a gauge labelled 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100, with heart marks.

Then ask: so, which of you two has the most intense feelings?

Harmony

To calculate the couple's Harmony score:

  1. Add together the PASSION value of each of the two partners.
  2. Add 3 POINTS for each CASE filled exactly with the same value (do not count the orphan cells).

The sheet asks: can you reach 100 points?

Note on the Harmony wording: the sheet does not define "PASSION value" separately from the rose-cell points described under Intensity. The transcriber has taken it to mean the rose-cell total of each partner's sheet. Step 2 is transcribed as printed; the sheet does not further explain "filled exactly with the same value".

Sheet Layout Notes

These notes describe the printed sheet's elements. Only the text above is rules.

  • Score lines: the sheet has two rows of eight boxes, each followed by an "=" box for its total, joined by "+" to a rose-shaped block of five boxes; a frowning-face box with a "−" in front of it carries the "−10" label, and the total is read on the Love Meter. The rows are not labelled on the sheet, so their names are not given here.
  • Heart illustration: the large heart on the sheet shows 19 circles, five of them marked with a rose icon. The sheet's text does not describe the heart as a separate playing area; it is shown as the sheet's artwork.
  • Mini grid: the small grid in the top-left corner carries the symbols ↓, ↑, −, +, × down its left side. The sheet gives no printed explanation for it, so it is not transcribed.
  • Tagline: "Ascension offerte par les auteurs" is an attribution line and is not transcribed.
