Can you remove a single card from a combined item?
The rulebook bars voluntary deconstruction unless a card says so, and a relayed official ruling allows effect-driven single-card discards.

Not voluntarily. You can relinquish a whole item at any time, but deconstructing it by discarding one card is not allowed unless a card's own effect says so, such as the Bolas. An effect that tells you to discard a card with a keyword from your inventory removes just that card, and the die shifts to the next card if it was the top one.
