Setup with Mini-Expansions

The symbol in the lower-right corner of each card shows which mini-expansion it belongs to: "А" (Assault), "К" (Command), "П" (Characters) or "М" (Missions). The Assault and Command sets include base cards (gold symbol) and ship cards (silver symbol).

You may add to the game one mini-expansion or all of them at once. When you add the Characters, Assault and Command mini-expansions to the game, shuffle the corresponding expansion cards into the trade deck.

The Missions expansion cards are NOT shuffled into the trade deck.

Before the game begins, shuffle the mission cards and deal each player 3 cards face down. Players look at their own mission cards without showing them to their opponent.

Alternative setup: Deal each player 5 cards face down. Each player chooses 3 missions to keep and sets the other 2 aside, out of the game.

Unified Factions in the Assault and Command Sets

The four symbols shown here are unified factions. Each one activates the ally abilities of two factions at once:

  • Yellow star on a blue ring (with a yellow star centre) = yellow star faction symbol + blue cross faction symbol.
  • Blue cross on a red cog ring = blue cross faction symbol + red cog faction symbol.
  • Red cog ring with a green centre = red cog faction symbol + green circle faction symbol.
  • Black ring with yellow rays and a green centre = green circle faction symbol + yellow star faction symbol.

For example, if you have played a card with the unified yellow star / blue cross symbol, you may apply any ally abilities of the yellow star or blue cross factions.

Conversely, if you have a card with a yellow star or blue cross faction symbol in play, you may apply any ally abilities of the unified yellow star / blue cross symbol.

Characters Expansion Rules

Character cards that appear in the trade row may be bought by the same rules as ship and base cards. However, after purchase a character is not added to your discard pile; instead it is played immediately, and its primary ability is applied.

For example, right after you buy Commodore Zhang, he gives you 4 combat, the ability "Chosen opponent discards any 1 card from hand", and the character's ally ability (see below).

A played character card is not discarded at the end of your turn. It stays in front of you until you scrap it. Its primary ability no longer applies in later turns.

At any point during your main phase you may use the scrap ability of a character card. The ability is performed, and then the character card is scrapped.

Character Ally Abilities

When you play or scrap a character card from this set, you gain that character's faction symbol. Until the end of your turn, you may use the ally abilities of the corresponding faction on your other cards. Each ally ability may be applied only once, even if in the same turn you both play and scrap the character.

For example, after buying or scrapping Commodore Zhang, you may apply the "Chosen opponent discards any 1 card" ally ability of the Alliance Transport ship (if you have not already done so this turn). However, you cannot apply this ally ability twice if you both bought and scrapped Commodore Zhang in the same turn.

Missions Expansion Rules

Missions are an alternative way to win the game. Mission cards are dealt at the start of the game (see "Setup with Mini-Expansions").

If during your turn you complete a mission's objective, you may reveal that mission card to your opponents and receive the reward listed on it. Completed missions are set aside, not placed in the discard pile.

You may reveal only 1 mission card per turn.

If you are the first to complete all 3 of your missions, you automatically win the game.
