When a passive effect triggers off playing a card, such as Dog Sleds or Macedonians, does it resolve before or after the played card goes to discard?

Resolve effects up to a full stop, then the associated triggered effects. A card goes to the discard pile after all its other effects resolve unless the card says otherwise, so the triggered effect happens before the card is discarded.
