Components

The pack contains a Legendary Unit title card, "Legendary Units: Board Game Geeks & Grognards", and the following card faces as they appear in the photographs:

  • Legendary Specialists: Armchair General, Wargamer, Rules Lawyer, Board Gamer.
  • Legendary Items: Charts, Paper Map, Counter Tray, Box Insert, Player Aid, Dice Tower.
  • Awards: Platinum Die, Golden Pawn.
  • Legendary RWB Tables: two tables, shown in the photograph without a unit label.

The Legendary Unit title card has no rules text of its own. Each Specialist and Item card shows a number or emblem in its header. The Item numbers (12, 7, 5, 15, 7, 3) are printed on the card faces and are not labelled on them; they are reproduced as printed.

Legendary Unit Rules

The cards in this pack are played under the shared Legendary Unit rules (Module 2 of D-Day Dice: War Stories, with the Legends rulebook for the Legends variants). The card texts below are what this promo adds, and they are transcribed as printed.

Legendary Specialists

Armchair General

Four stars. Blue emblem.

Awards cost 2 less Courage for your Unit during Phase 4.

Wargamer

Four stars. Blue emblem. Yellow arrow icon in the lower corner (printed on the card; its meaning is not explained on the card face).

Select an unavailable Legendary RWB Table and keep it: you now have 2 RWB Tables. As long as you have the Wargamer, when you obtain an RWB bonus, choose which RWB table to use.

Rules Lawyer

Four stars. Checkered emblem.

Ignore all Sector attributes (but not Sector requirements). If you suffer Special Damage, automatically lose the Rules Lawyer (in place of normal Special Damage).

Board Gamer

Four stars. Checkered emblem. Yellow arrow icon in the lower corner (printed on the card; its meaning is not explained on the card face).

If you don't re-roll your BLUE dice during Phase 1, gain 2 Soldiers.

Legendary Items

Charts

Number 12. Blue emblem.

Roll 1d6 and multiply its result by 2: gain that many Soldiers.

Paper Map

Number 7. Blue emblem.

Look at the number of your current Sector (not a Bunker): if it is 7 or less, gain 3 Soldiers; if it is 8 or more, gain 4 Courage.

Counter Tray

Number 5. Blue emblem.

On your Resource card, look at the odd-numbered resources: adjust these dials up by 1 so that all your resources are even-numbered.

Box Insert

Number 15. Checkered emblem.

Add the number of Specialists, Items & Vehicles in your Unit: this is the number of Soldiers gained. Split them between all Units however you wish.

Player Aid

Number 7. Checkered emblem.

If a Unit has more Stars than you, gain enough Stars to match that Unit's Stars total.

Dice Tower

Number 3. Checkered emblem.

Roll 1d6: if you obtain 1-3, gain 2 Soldiers; if you obtain 4-6, gain 1 Courage.

Awards

Platinum Die

Medal-style card, dice emblem.

Roll 1d6 (re-roll if you obtain a 1): that is the number of Stars that each Unit gains.

Golden Pawn

Medal-style card, pawn emblem.

All Units gain 2d6 Soldiers (each Unit rolls separately).

Legendary RWB Tables

The pack's two RWB Tables are printed without a unit label in the photograph. They are named below by their Dead Man's Gift text so that each table is identifiable. How a table is placed over the RWB bonus table is set out in the shared Legendary Unit rules.

Legendary RWB Table: Draw an Award

DEAD MAN'S GIFT: Draw 1 Award at random.

LEADERSHIP: Double 1 of your dice in your Final Tally (color + result). OR: All other Units gain 2 Stars.

REINFORCEMENTS: Add 6 Soldiers to your Unit and 2 Soldiers to another Unit of your choice.

FRESH TROOPS: Gain 6 Soldiers.

BATTLE CRY: Gain 2 Stars. OR: If you move this turn ignore all requirements of the new Sector, and if Advancing don't spend Courage to enter. Land Mines still apply. Combat occurs normally once you have moved.

SPECIAL FIND: You can find a used Item by paying its cost in Item Points (this does not count toward the 1-per-turn limit). OR: Gain 2 Courage.

Legendary RWB Table: Gain 15 Item Points

DEAD MAN'S GIFT: Gain 15 Item Points. These Skulls don't cancel any dice.

LEADERSHIP: Add 1 BLUE result of your choice to your Final Tally. OR: All other Units gain 2 Stars.

REINFORCEMENTS: Gain 8 Soldiers and distribute them between all Units however you choose.

FRESH TROOPS: Gain 5 Soldiers.

BATTLE CRY: All Units gain 2 Soldiers.

OR: All Units gain 1 Courage.
