Course of the Game
The game is played in a succession of turns until all the animals are freed or the keeper enters the enclosure. You all play at the same time.
Each turn, line up your 3 cards in whatever order you like to reconstitute animals. Be careful: you must form a line with your 3 cards, without offsetting them!
How to save the animals?
As soon as you have chosen how to line up your 3 cards, look at them carefully. If you managed to reconstitute animals, well done! Take all the corresponding tokens from the game board and place them on your cards, where the animals are reconstituted.
HINT: You can always reconstitute at least 1 animal.
When all players have finished lining up their cards and placing their Animal tokens, place those tokens in the box. Bravo, you have freed them!
NOTE: If there are no more tokens for a reconstituted animal, it means it has already been freed; do not place a token on it.
The keeper gets closer!
Then advance the Keeper pawn to the next Path token in the direction of the enclosure and put the previous one in the box. If there are no more Path tokens, the keeper goes back into the enclosure and the game ends. If this is not the case, discard all your cards, then deal 3 to each player again. If necessary, shuffle all the discarded cards again. Then start a new turn, and so on until the end of the game.
End of the Game
The game ends when there are no more Animal tokens in the enclosure or when the keeper enters the enclosure. Then count together the number of animals remaining in the enclosure:
- 0 animals: Congratulations! You won! The keeper could do nothing, you are really too good!
- 1 animal: Very good! Only one left to free!
- 2 or 3 animals: Great! With a bit of practice you will free them all next time!
- 4 or 5 animals: Not bad, but you can surely do much better!
- More than 5 animals: Oh no... Come on, let's start again and try to free them all!
Game No. 2: The Race of the Year
Competitive game for ages 6 and up.
Now that the animals have escaped from the zoo, cheer them on in the race of the year and win it with your favorite animal! Line up your cards to reconstitute animals and win the race!
Setup
- Place the board against the box, Race (competitive) side up, as shown in the illustration.
- Each player chooses an Animal pawn; this is their favorite animal. Place it on the Start space of the race track and take a corresponding Animal token, which you place Animal side up in front of you (to remember your favorite).
- Place all the other tokens, Crown side up, in the box.
- Shuffle the deck of 30 cards, deal 4 to each player, and lay them face up in front of you.
- The remaining cards form the draw pile, face down, in the middle of the table.
- The Keeper pawn is left in the box; it is not used in this game.
Course of the Game
The game is played over several turns until one or more players pass the finish line. Everyone plays at the same time.
Line up your 4 cards in whatever order you like to reconstitute animals. Be careful: you must form a line with your 4 cards, without offsetting them.
When all players have finished lining up their 4 cards, each advances their animal on the race track following these rules:
- A. Each reconstituted animal makes you advance 1 space.
- B. If the reconstituted animal is your favorite animal, it makes you advance 2 spaces. Also take a Crown token for each favorite animal reconstituted.
Then, keep one of your cards and discard the other 3. Draw 3 new cards so as to have 4 cards in front of you again. If necessary, shuffle the discarded cards again.
Start a new turn again until one of you passes the finish line and places their token in the box.
End of the Game
The first player to pass the finish line wins the game! If several players pass the finish line at the same time, they compare the number of Crowns they collected during the game. The one with the most wins the game. In case of a further tie, the players share the victory.
