Components

  • 5 ZomBee dice
  • 18 flowers (4 of them spares)
  • 20 honey drops (15 yellow and 5 green for the tournament variant)

Objective

The players roll the dice in turn. Whoever rolls green ZomBees must turn over flowers themselves; for yellow bees, the other players must turn over flowers. Whoever reveals a ZomBee loses valuable honey, and the last player who still has at least one honey drop wins.

Setup

Before the first game, carefully punch out 14 of the 18 flowers from the punch boards. The four flowers circled in red are spares (1 ZomBee, 1 question mark, 2 bees) and stay in the box.

Shuffle the 14 flowers (1 ZomBee, 2 question marks, 11 bees) and spread them flower-side up in the middle of the table. Each player receives two yellow honey drops, which they place in front of them.

Turn Sequence

The youngest player begins as the active player. They may roll the dice up to three times. In the first roll, they roll all five dice. After each roll, the active player decides which dice to set aside and which to roll again:

  • The yellow symbols bee, honey drop and Zzz may be set aside.
  • The green ZomBee must be set aside, and may only be rolled again in combination with a Zzz.
  • "ZomBee snores": For each rolled Zzz, one ZomBee may be rolled again in the following roll. The Zzz die and the ZomBee die must be rolled together.

After the player has ended their turn early or has rolled three times, the dice are evaluated.

Evaluating the Dice

Caution: the order must be strictly observed!

  1. Zzz symbols have no significance for the evaluation.

  2. Honey drops: For three or more rolled honey drops, the active player receives one yellow honey drop from the box. Caution: each player may hold at most three honey drops at the same time during the game. Any honey drops rolled beyond that are forfeited!

  3. Green ZomBees: For each rolled green ZomBee, the active player must turn over one flower.

    • Bee revealed? Nothing happens. The bee stays face up.
    • Question mark revealed? The active player chooses another player, who must immediately turn over one additional flower out of turn. This may also be the active player. The question mark stays face up.
    • ZomBee revealed? The round ends immediately, and the active player must put one of their honey drops back into the box. If it was their last honey drop, they are eliminated for the rest of the game.
  4. Yellow bees: For each rolled yellow bee, the other players must turn over one flower each, clockwise. The player to the left of the active player begins. If more bees were rolled than there are other players, the other players continue in turn order, each turning over one flower, until all bees have been resolved. The active player is skipped in this process.

    • Bee revealed? Nothing happens. The bee stays face up.
    • Question mark revealed? The player who revealed it chooses another player (who may be the active player), who must immediately turn over one additional flower out of turn. The question mark stays face up.

If no ZomBee was revealed, all revealed bees and question marks stay face up. The next player clockwise then becomes the active player and rolls the dice.

Example 1

Tom rolls 3 ZomBees and 2 Zzz in his first roll. He must set one ZomBee aside, because he cannot compensate for it. He rolls the other two ZomBees together with the two Zzz again.

In his second roll, Tom gets 3 honey drops and 1 Zzz. He sets the three honey drops aside and rolls the Zzz together with the ZomBee he set aside in his first roll.

In his third, and thus last, roll, Tom again gets a ZomBee and a Zzz. The Zzz has no effect. Tom receives one honey drop from the box for his three honey drops (unless he already has three), and must turn over one flower for the ZomBee.

Example 2

Mia rolls a ZomBee and four bees in her first roll. Although she could roll the four bees again, she decides to end her turn.

First, Mia must turn over a flower for the ZomBee. She reveals a bee. Then her fellow players must each turn over one flower in clockwise order, which makes four flowers in total.

New Round

Once a ZomBee has been revealed, the round ends immediately. All 14 flowers are shuffled again and spread flower-side up on the table.

The new active player is the player who most recently lost a honey drop to a ZomBee. If that player has been eliminated because they have no honey drops left, their left-hand neighbour begins the new round.

End of the Game

There can only be one!

The game ends when the second-to-last player has been eliminated. The player who still has at least one honey drop wins!

Tournament Variant: "ZomBee Slime"

In this variant, the green honey drops are used as game winnings. The game is played as described above, with the following changes:

  • At the start of the game, each player receives only one yellow honey drop.
  • Each player may hold at most two honey drops at the same time. Any further honey drops rolled are forfeited.
  • The last player who still has at least one honey drop receives one green honey drop as game winnings. Then a new game begins.
  • The first player to win two games wins the tournament.
  • ZomBee revealed? The round ends immediately, and the player who revealed it must put one of their honey drops into the box. If it was their last honey drop, they are eliminated for the rest of the game.
