Goal
Get rid of your Question cards by guessing which of your questions is closest to the target. The first team to have only a single card left in front of it wins the game!
Components
- 158 cards (Question side and Answer side)
- 9 Power cards (one color per team), "plus 200" on one side
- 1 Start card
Setup
- Form 3 teams (the number of players may vary from one team to another).
2 PLAYERS: Exceptionally, form only 2 teams.
- Place the deck of Question cards on the table, QUESTION SIDE VISIBLE.
- Place 6 Question cards in front of each team, always with the question side visible! Never take the Question cards in your hands, so as not to see the answers!
- Give the 3 Power cards of one color to each team.
- Place the Start card, the one showing 500 on both sides, in the centre of the table. This is the target to reach for the first round.
TIP: Start with card 1. Do not shuffle the cards, even between games, in order to play with as many new cards as possible each time.
Play
The game is played as a succession of rounds. Each round proceeds in the same way.
- Discuss within your team to find which of the questions placed in front of you has the answer closest to the target. All of this without consulting the answers on the backs of the cards.
- Move forward the question you have chosen without turning it over. OPTIONAL: You may add one or more of your remaining Power cards. See their effect further on.
- When all teams have chosen their question, each in turn reads its own aloud, turns it over, and announces the answer.
Once all the answers are revealed, compare them.
IMPORTANT: All questions have an answer ranging from 0 to 1000.
The team with the answer furthest from the target must:
- Place its Question card in the centre of the table, answer side visible: it is the new target for the next round.
- Take an additional Question card from the deck and add it in front of it (question side visible). In case of a tie for the furthest answer, all the teams concerned take an additional Question card.
Discard for the rest of the game all the other cards (Target, Question and Power) that were used in this round.
CLARIFICATION: The teams that do not have the furthest answer do not take a Question card. They therefore get closer to victory (having only one Question card left), but the difficulty increases since they have fewer cards available.
Power Cards
REMINDER: Power cards are single-use.
plus 200 / minus 200: Play this card and choose which side you play it on BEFORE turning over your Question card. One side of this card adds exactly 200 to the value of your card, the other side subtracts exactly 200.
Change card: Play this card and replace one of the Question cards in front of you (your choice) with the one from the bottom of the deck.
Two-question card (plus / minus): Play TWO Question cards when you play this card. Your answer is the sum OR the difference of your 2 questions (depending on the side chosen). If your answer is the furthest, choose which of your 2 cards will be the next target, discard the other, and take 2 Question cards again. If your answer is not the furthest, you get rid of the 2 Question cards: bravo!
End of the Game
You win the game as soon as you have only one Question card left in front of you.
If more than one team reaches this objective during the same round, each team in a tie announces what it thinks is the answer to its last Question card. Each team then reveals its card: the team closest to the answer wins. In case of a further tie, share the victory!
