Goal of the Game
But... in the middle of the board you can see tempting shops. You must buy at least one thing in each shop, so the aim is to do this as cheaply as possible. Pay special attention to the special offers!
Of course it is very important to put money into the bank as quickly as possible, because at least the bank pays interest on it.
You win if you are the first to:
- have 10 euros in your bank account for your new bicycle;
- have bought at least one item in every shop;
- reach or pass the special "bicycle" field, with all of the above done.
Contents
- Game board in the box, shopping centre, 4 pawns, 18 pocket money cards, 24 cards with possible purchases, euros, and 4 clips to show the bank balance.
Setup
- Each player chooses a pawn and a bank-balance clip in the same colour.
- You play in the box. Place the box with the game board in the middle.
- Fold the shopping centre and place it on the game board so that the shops match the corner fields.
- Sort the purchase cards by shop (there are six of each shop). Shuffle each pile and place them face down in front of the correct shop. Turn the top card of each pile face up on top of the pile.
- Shuffle the pocket money cards. Place them next to the box, face down. Also turn the top one of these face up.
- Choose a banker. The banker may also play. The banker uses the lid to keep the coins.
- Everyone receives 2 euros (1 euro, 2 x 0.50).
- Decide by lot who starts. Play then continues to the left. The player who starts places his pawn on a pocket money field of his choice. The other players each choose a different pocket money field.
Playing the Game
On your turn, first throw the die. Then move your pawn in the direction of the arrows. If you throw the special symbol, you may choose whether to move forward 1, 2, 3 or 4 fields.
Immediately follow the instructions of the field you land on. These instructions are explained further on in these rules. When you have done this, the next player takes a turn.
At first you will often need to look at these rules to find out what to do, but you will soon know them by heart.
Tips and Tricks
If you throw the special symbol and may therefore choose how far to move, then in the beginning the red shops and the green pocket money fields are especially important.
- First look at how expensive the item in the next shop is. Less than 2 euros is cheap, more than 2 euros is expensive. The "Sale" field is especially attractive: not only does everything cost less, but you may also choose in which shop you buy something!
- Then look at how much money you can collect on the "Pocket Money" field. 0.25 euro is peanuts, but 3 euros is a party!
Now you can decide whether it is better to shop or to collect pocket money.
The Bank
The clip on the edge of the box shows how much money you have in your account. Each time you land on a "Bank" field you may pay money into your account.
Each step stands for 0.50 euro. When you pay money in, you move your clip to the right. The more money you have in your account, the more interest you receive. And when you have 10 euros in it, you have enough to buy your bicycle!
Money Transport
Sometimes the bank runs out of change. In that case the bank director carefully lifts the shopping centre out of the box. He tops up his till and carefully puts the shopping centre back.
When the game is over, the money is shaken out of the box through the hole at the comic shop.
Meaning of the Fields
1 Red: MC SMECK, Het Sportpaleis, Goed Speelgoed, Strips & Snoep
The cards lying face up in front of the shops show what you can buy and how much it costs. If you want to buy it, push the coins into the slots and place the card in front of you. Then turn over the next card and place that face up on the pile. If you do not want to buy it, for example because you already have a card from that shop, or because you have too little money, you simply stay where you are. Place that card at the bottom of the pile and turn over the top card.
2 Yellow: Sale
All the shops hold a "sale" for you when you land here. Choose one of the four face-up cards. You may buy it for 0.50 euro less than the price shown.
Push the coins into the slot and place the card in front of you. Then turn over the next card from that pile. If you do not want to buy anything, or you have no money, you do nothing.
3 Green: Pocket Money
Read out the face-up pocket money card. The bank director immediately gives you the amount shown on it. Place the card at the bottom of the pile.
4 Blue: Bank
You may put money into your bank account. Your bank account is on the edge of the box. At the start of the game the clip is on "0". Each time you put money in the bank, you pay the bank and move the clip. One step for every 0.50 euro.
When you have 4 full rows, you have 10 euros. Then you have enough for your bicycle!
5 Blue: Interest
By saving you earn money. This is called interest. The more money you have in the bank, the more interest you receive. As soon as a player lands on an interest field, the bank pays interest to all players. How much? That depends on the colour on which your clip is standing.
Clip on blue: you receive no interest Clip on green: your clip may move 1 step further Clip on red: your clip may move 2 steps further Clip on orange: your clip may move 3 steps further You are already at 10: you receive 2 euros from the bank
6 Orange: Have I got that?!
These fields cost money. If you do not have enough money, you pay what you have.
"The money is lying in the street": if no money is lying there, you must put 1 euro down. If money is lying there, you may take it.
The other 2 "Have I got that?!" fields speak for themselves.
7 Yellow: Bus and Metro
The bus and the Metro get you there quickly. Put 0.30 euro in the slot for the bus, or 0.70 euro in the slot for the Metro. In the same turn you may get off at a stop of your choice and follow the instructions of that field.
- A possibility for the clever ones: You are in the "Strips & Snoep" shop and throw the special symbol on the die. You take the Metro, pay, and travel on to "Het Sportpaleis". All in one turn!
8 Blue: a bicycle!!
If you have not yet saved enough, this counts as an interest field. See above. But if you have 10 euros in the bank, have bought something in every shop, and you stand on this field or pass it, then the bicycle is yours!!
