Components
- 4 ice cube molds
- 52 cards (Yeti side and Model side)
- 16 snack tokens: 4 sets of 4 snack tokens (one set per colour)
- 1 Yeah-Tea tile
Component note: the ice cube molds were designed for the game and are not recommended for making real ice cubes.
Setup
- Each player takes one ice cube mold and one token of each colour.
- Place the Yeah-Tea tile in the centre of the table.
- Shuffle the cards to form a draw pile. Place the draw pile in the centre of the table, Model side face up. Leave a space for one card next to the draw pile.
The player who last opened a fridge starts.
Goal of the Game
A challenge is created by combining the Model side of one card with the Yeti side of another card. Based on the Model side, place your snack tokens in your mould and use it to recreate the combinations requested on the Yeti side!
As soon as a player wins a round, they win 2 cards. The first player to win 6 rounds wins the game!
How to Play
1. Round Setup
Each player places their snack tokens in their ice cube mold, as shown on the card on top of the draw pile (this card is called the Model card). Each player must place their tokens so that the configuration of their mold matches the Model card, from their own point of view.
Once everyone is ready, the first player places the Model card next to the draw pile. It must stay there to serve as a reference.
Reminder: the combination of the Model card and the revealed Yeti card ensures that the challenge is random!
2. Reveal the Yeti and the Challenge
The first player turns over the top card of the draw pile to reveal its Yeti side, making sure to reveal the card at the same time as the other players, and not before. (This card is called the Yeti card.)
From this moment, all players play simultaneously to prepare the snacks matching the Yeti's request.
Players fold their ice cube mold in order to move or stack the snack tokens inside it. You may not touch or move the tokens with your fingers!
- You are allowed to fold 1 or 2 lines of your ice cube mold.
- Diagonal folds and partial folds are not allowed.
If you fold the mold this way, there must be no token in the column indicated in yellow. Otherwise, they risk falling outside the mold.
- Once the tokens are stacked, they can no longer be separated. If you are stuck, or have accidentally made a snack token fall outside the ice cube mold, forcing you to touch a snack token with your hands, you must follow these steps:
- Take the Yeah-Tea tile. Calm your mind by drinking your tea, while counting from 3 to 1.
- Put the Yeah-Tea tile back in its initial place.
- Finally, place all of your snack tokens again so that they match the Model card. After this, you are allowed to resume the challenge.
- If another player is using the Yeah-Tea tile, you must wait until the tile is available again.
3. Satisfy the Yeti
The player who thinks they have met the conditions of the Yeti card places their hand on the Model card and shouts "Bon app-yeti!" (Enjoy your meal!). The game then stops.
Everyone checks whether the Yeti card is respected. If there is an error, the player who stopped the game is eliminated for the rest of this round, and the round resumes for the other players. On success, or if only one player remains in play, the round ends immediately.
The player wins the round and takes the Yeti and Model cards used during this round as a reward. They place the cards, which form a set, in front of them.
Types of Yeti Challenge
The Yeti card shows one of the following requests. Each request is shown with a picture of the required token arrangement, and a token can be required to be visible or not visible in the ice cube mold.
- This token must be the only one visible in the ice cube mold.
- This token must not be visible, and the three remaining tokens must be visible in the ice cube mold.
- These two tokens must be the only ones visible in the ice cube mold.
- These two tokens must not be visible, and the two remaining tokens must be visible in the ice cube mold.
- These three tokens must be the only ones visible in the ice cube mold.
- These three tokens must not be visible, and the remaining token must be visible in the ice cube mold.
Alternatively, the Yeti card may ask players to stack tokens:
- Stack all tokens in your ice cube mold. The tokens must be in this exact order, but they may be oriented in any direction.
- Stack all tokens in a single pile, placing the illustrated tokens at both ends. It does not matter which token is on top or at the bottom, nor the order.
4. End of Round and End of Game
If no player has yet collected 6 sets (12 cards), the player who won the cards last becomes the new first player. A new round then begins.
As soon as a player wins their sixth set, they immediately win the game!
Editor's note: the rules text uses both "6 rounds" (Goal of the Game) and "6 sets (12 cards)" (End of Round). Each round win awards one set of 2 cards, so 6 sets and 6 round wins are the same threshold. Both wordings are kept as printed.
