Starting the Game

To play, you will need three D12 (1 red, 1 green, and 1 white) and one Black D6, one printed scoresheet for each player as well as a pencil or pen.

Each player receives a scoresheet and a pencil. The player who likes rolling dice the most takes all the dice to start playing.

Turn Sequence

● On a turn, one player rolls the four dice into the middle of the play area.

● Each player chooses one D12 (without picking it up) and writes the value in any space that matches the color of that D12. Multiple players may choose the same D12.

● Once per round, players may use the Black D6 to modify the result of their chosen D12. (see "Modifying the Dice").

○ The numbers in a row must remain in ascending order from left to right. (blank fields and the number 0 are okay)

○ Number 0 can be written anywhere in the respective color. (E.g.: The dice is rolled and there's "5" with the red die and "5" with the black die, players can write "0" anywhere in either red row.).

○ No duplicate numbers are allowed in any row or column. Number 0 is an exception to this rule.

○ You may only write the values inside the icons (Hearts and Xmas Icons).

● If the players can't or won't enter a number, they mark (X) the leftmost Gift Box on their scoresheet. These are considered as penalties.

Modifying the Dice

The Black Die is how the players can modify their dice result. Using the Black Die is purely optional; however, players may only use it once per round (once per roll). After choosing a red, green or white D12, players may ADD or SUBTRACT the value of the Black Die to their chosen D12.

End-game & Scoring

When any player has all the Gift Boxes marked or has filled four rows on their scoresheet, the game ends at the end of that round. Players then tally their points:

○ Each Fully Complete Row: Points equal to the number in the rightmost heart.

○ Each Incomplete Row: One point per entered number.

○ Xmas Icons: Sum of the numbers in all three matching icons. (E.g.: A player has "18" in one of the trees, "2" in another trees, but he doesn't have a number in the third tree, he scores "0".) (E.g.: A player has "4" in one of the hats, "10" in other hats and "6" in the third one, he scores "20".)

○ Gingerbread Man Bonus: If you managed to write the number "10" five times, you get +10 points.

○ Each Gift Box: Sum of the marked points from left to right (max -30)

Whoever has the highest score wins. In case of tie, the player who has the least number of marked Gift Boxes wins the game. If there's still a tie, the player who has the least empty hearts wins the game.

○ Players should check that their numbers are legally entered.

○ If a mistake is spotted immediately, the number should be erased and either placed elsewhere, or no entry is made.

○ If a mistake is spotted later, that number should be erased and no replacement made.

○ Entries may be concealed while being made, but the scoresheets are public information otherwise.

Solo Scoring Range

Jesus Christ! 270+

Angel: 220-269

Nice: 160-219

Naughty: below 160 points

Variant for 2-6 Players

On a turn, the active player rolls all the dice.

● The active player may then reroll the Black Die that he rolled.

● Each player can choose one d12 and writes the value on that d12 in any square that matches the color of that d12. Only the active player may use the Black Die to modify the result of their chosen d12.

Now the next player in a clockwise direction takes his turn at rolling the dice as described above. Play then continues with each player taking turns in a clockwise direction.

Designer's Note

I recommend the DnDice App or the Dice Roller for Android if you don't have the required dice to play Xmas Sweater.

Thank you for playing!
