Components

  • 66 cards
  • 1 die

The component page shows the cards in groups labelled "11x" (eleven cards per group).

Object of the Game

The player who is fastest to call the required animal either receives its card or can make safe the cards they have already received. The player who has collected the most cards by the end of the game wins.

Setup

Shuffle the animal cards well and divide them into two roughly equal stacks, placed face up. Take the top card of one of the stacks and place it in the middle of that same stack (the stack with the cat in the illustration).

How to Play

It does not matter which player rolls the die. As soon as the die stops, all players simultaneously answer the question: which animal must be found now? The player who knows the answer calls the animal as quickly as possible. Then a new round begins.

Which Animal Are We Looking For?

Basic Rule No. 1: The animal to be sought is the one shown on the rolled die.

Basic Rule No. 2: You may not call an animal that is shown on one of the cards lying in the centre of the table. If the animal shown on the die is also on one of the cards lying in the centre of the table, the players must call the name of one of the animals that are currently hidden. The player who first calls one of these suitable animals wins the round.

Basic Rule No. 3: You may not call the animal that was correctly called last.

Example: The die shows a dog. The first player who calls the dog wins the round.

Example (continued): Because a cat is shown on one of the cards, the players may not call the cat. The player who first calls mouse, pig or cow wins the round. In this example you also may not call dog, according to Rule No. 3. Since the last animal that was correctly called was the dog, the player may not call the dog again in the next round.

What Can the Winner of the Round Do?

By calling a suitable animal before the others, you may do one of the following:

  1. Take one card from the top of one of the stacks lying in the centre of the table and place it in front of you, face up.

    or

  2. Make safe all the cards lying face up in front of you by turning them face down.

Newly placed cards that you lay out in front of you face up are kept separately from the face-down cards you have already made safe.

Did You Call the Wrong Animal?

If you call an animal wrongly, you must give up all the cards lying face up in front of you. You place them face down next to the open stacks in the centre of the table, forming a discard pile. These cards no longer take part in the game. If only cards that are safe lie in front of you, you must turn all of those cards over, opening them again (they are once again not safe).

Several Players Call the Sought Animal at the Same Time

If several players simultaneously call the sought animal (or the same suitable animal), there will be several winners in the round at once. Each of them may take one card.

Important: If several suitable animals are called at the same time, in the next round the largest of them may not be called. (Observe the following order: cow, pig, sheep, dog, cat and mouse.)

What If All Players Call the Wrong Animal?

In this case no player receives a card. All cards lying face up in front of the players are moved to the discard pile, and in the next round Basic Rule No. 3 does not apply.

A Face-Down Card Is Revealed

As soon as a face-down card is revealed, you turn it over. Then you divide that stack into two roughly equal parts and place one of them next to the others as a third stack (see the illustration). Now the game requires even more attention, since even more animals are available.

End of the Game and Determining the Winner

The game ends as soon as the last card is taken from the centre of the table. Each player then combines their cards, both those that are safe and those lying face up. The player with the greatest number of cards wins.
