Party Mode (4+ Players, Competitive)
See the other side if: you have fewer than 4 players; you're looking for "Date Night Mode"; or you have a large group and all want to be on one team.
What Is This?
Get ready to be a little playful, a little physical, and a little weird with your teammates.
On each turn, a player giving hints will need to follow a set of rules — they may only be able to talk, draw, or gesture — and there's always an added twist that will make things a little harder. Your team wins if you can correctly guess more words than the other team within the time limit.
To play this game you'll need a phone, watch, or anything else that has a timer with a loud noise or strong vibration!
Why isn't there a timer in the box? Chances are good that you already have something that keeps time, and by using what you have, we can reduce the production of unnecessary plastics!
Contents: 55 Challenge Cards | 1 Notepad | 1 Pen | 150 Party Mode Word Cards
You can use the "Party Mode" deck on its own, or shuffle it in with the "Date Mode" deck to have more words to choose from!
Setup
- Divide all players into 2 teams. It's okay if the teams aren't perfectly even. Just try to make sure everyone on a team is sitting near each other.
- Shuffle the "Party Mode" Word Cards. Put the deck of cards in the middle of the table so that everyone can reach it. The Word Cards are double-sided with 2 words per side. Pick a number 1–4. Everyone will use the corresponding word on each card for the whole game. Flip the deck over so your number is face down and no one can see the words early.
- Shuffle all the Challenge Cards, and put 3 of them face down into a small pile in the middle of the table. Put the rest of the Challenge Cards back in the box. You won't use them for this game. The same deck of Challenge Cards is used for both Party and Date Night Modes.
- Leave some room for a Score Pile and a Discard Pile for each team.
- Put the pen, paper, and timer on the table.
- Pick a team to go first.
Playing the Game
- If it's your team's turn, pick a player on your team to turn over the first Challenge Card and read it out loud.
- Set your timer according to the time limit on the Challenge Card, then immediately start the timer. Challenges can be 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes.
- When your timer starts, look at the top Word Card and, without letting your teammate(s) see the word, try to get your team to guess the word while following all the rules on your Challenge Card. Only players on your team can guess the word.
- If your team correctly guesses the word, place that Word Card in your team's Score Pile and take a new Word Card (while continuing to use the same Challenge Card). Try to get through as many words as possible before the timer runs out.
- After the timer runs out, it's now the other team's turn to pick a player to use the same Challenge Card.
- After one player per team has taken a turn with the same Challenge Card, put that card back in the box, and the next player on your team turns over the next Challenge Card to take their turn. Continue until both teams have tried all 3 Challenge Cards.
The team with the most Word Cards in their Score Pile goes first each round. If tied, pick a team to go first.
Challenge Cards
Actions
- Talk: You can speak and make sounds. You can never say the word on the card or any part or variation of the word.
- Draw: You can draw using the pen and paper. You can't write letters, numbers, etc.
- Gesture: You can silently act out the word. You can't form letters to spell the word.
"But also..." is the extra rule that makes the challenge harder.
The time is based on the difficulty of the Challenge Card.
Most Challenge Cards only have one action allowed, but some have multiple, so pay close attention when you read the card out loud!
This game is about having fun! If a Challenge Card makes someone uncomfortable or unable to play, replace it with a new Challenge Card.
Skipping Cards and Breaking Rules
If you want to skip a Word Card (for example, if your team is having a really hard time guessing it), put it in your Discard Pile, and then take a new Word Card.
If you break the rules on your Challenge Card, put your current Word Card in your Discard Pile and take a new one.
Everyone is responsible for recognizing when you break the rules on the card or any of the game rules. If it feels like cheating, it's cheating.
If you discard 3 Word Cards (either by breaking a rule, skipping, or any combination), your turn is immediately over, even if you have time remaining.
After your turn, put any discarded Word Cards back at the bottom of the deck.
Ending the Game
The game is over after both teams have taken a turn with all 3 Challenge Cards. Count the cards in each team's Score Pile. The team with the most Word Cards wins!
Tied Game
If the teams are tied at the end of the game, pick a player from each team, turn over a single Challenge Card, and read it out loud. Then, take a single Word Card for both players to look at. Both players should immediately try to get their team to guess the word while following the rules on the Challenge Card. The first team to correctly guess the word wins the game.
Date Night Mode (2 or More Players, Cooperative)
See the other side if: you're looking for "Party Mode"; or you have a large group and all want to play competitively.
What Is This?
Get ready to be a little playful, a little physical, and a little weird with your partner. You'll win or lose together by trying to get each other to guess words while following a set of rules — you may only be able to talk, draw, or gesture — and there's always an added twist that will make things a little harder. You both win if you can correctly guess enough words before the end of the game.
To play this game you'll need a phone, watch, or anything else that has a timer with a loud noise or strong vibration!
Why isn't there a timer in the box? Chances are good that you already have something that keeps time, and by using what you have, we can reduce the production of unnecessary plastics!
Contents: 55 Challenge Cards | 1 Notepad | 1 Pen | 50 Date Night Mode Word Cards
You can use the "Date Night" deck on its own, or shuffle it in with the rest of the "Party Mode" deck to have more words to choose from!
3+ players: Any time "your partner" is mentioned, replace it with "your team."
Setup
- Shuffle the "Date Night" Word Cards. Put the deck of cards in the middle of the table so that you both can reach it. The Word Cards are double-sided with 2 words per side. Pick a number 1–4. You'll both use the corresponding word on each card for the whole game. Flip the deck over so your number is face down and no one can see the words early.
- Shuffle the Challenge Cards, and put 3 of them face down into a small pile in the middle of the table. Put the rest of the Challenge Cards back in the box. You won't use them for this game. The same deck of Challenge Cards is used for both Date Night and Party Modes.

- Set your timer according to the time limit on the Challenge Card, then immediately start the timer. Challenges can be 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes.
- When your timer starts, look at the top Word Card and, without letting your partner see the word, try to get your partner to guess the word while following all the rules on your Challenge Card. 3+ players: Everyone guesses at the same time.
- As soon as your partner correctly guesses a word, place that Word Card in your shared Score Pile, and take a new Word Card (while continuing to use the same Challenge Card). Try to get your partner to guess as many words as possible before the timer runs out.
- When the timer runs out, it's the other player's turn to use the same Challenge Card. 3+ players: Pick any player to go next.
- After both players have taken a turn with the same Challenge Card, put that card back in the box, then turn over the next Challenge Card. Continue until you have both played all 3 Challenge Cards. 3+ players: Pick two players to try each Challenge Card, one after the other. This way each card gets played twice.
It's okay if not everyone gets a chance to try every Challenge Card, or if not everyone takes the same number of turns!
You can always play again, or even add more Challenge Cards for larger groups.
3+ players: For any Challenge Cards that reference a "Teammate," just pick any player(s) to help you for the turn. Everyone else can still guess.

Ending the Game
The game is over when you have both completed a turn with all 3 Challenge Cards.
3+ players: The game is over when each Challenge Card has been played by any 2 players.
If you have 15 or more Word Cards in your shared Score Pile, you win together!
