Deck Customization

When building a Necrons deck, a player may include common unit cards from any number of factions on the alignment wheel in his deck. Common units are a faction's non-signature and non-loyal units. A player may not include attachment, event, or support cards from any non-Necron faction. Tyranids cards cannot be included in a Necrons deck. Neutral cards of any type may be used in a Necrons deck.

To build a Necrons deck, a player first selects a Necrons warlord. His deck then includes:

  • The 8 cards from the chosen Necrons warlord's signature squad (mandatory).
  • Up to 3 copies each of any non-signature card(s) from the Necrons faction.
  • Up to 3 copies each of any common unit card(s) from any number of factions on the alignment wheel.
  • Up to 3 copies each of any neutral card(s).
  • A minimum of 50 total cards, not including the warlord itself.

The Enslavement Dial

In order to deploy units from other factions, a player with a Necrons deck utilizes the new enslavement dial. When the first deploy phase begins, a Necrons player sets his enslavement dial to any of the factions on the alignment wheel, and then reveals it to his opponent. This selected faction is known as his "enslaved faction." Following the standard deployment rules and any card text, the Necrons player is permitted to deploy or put into play unit cards from his enslaved faction in addition to the Necrons and neutral cards he can normally deploy and play. Units from non-enslaved factions, other than Necrons or neutral units, cannot enter play that round under the Necrons player's control. Once set, the enslavement dial may not be changed during that round, unless a card's text instructs a player to change it. When each subsequent deployment phase begins, the Necrons player may select a new enslaved faction on his enslavement dial, and then reveal that dial to his opponent. If both players are using the Necrons faction, the players will both select their aligned faction secretly and then reveal them simultaneously.

Number of Factions

Some Necrons cards reference the number of factions among units you control. When determining the number of factions among units you control, do not count neutral units.

Dial Assembly

Assemble the Necrons enslavement dial by using the plastic dial connector to attach the dial to the faceplate, as shown in the diagram below. (The printed diagram shows the dial's parts: the plastic dial connector, the dial, and the faceplate; it is not reproduced here.)
