  • 30 Wombat Cards:
    • Wombat with a bounty of $1,000: 16 cards (Semba-kun)
    • Wombat with a bounty of $3,000: 8 cards (Sister Sanze)
    • Wombat with a bounty of $5,000: 4 cards (Brother Gozemba)
    • Wombat with a bounty of $10,000: 2 cards (Boss Mamba)
  • 5 Summary Cards
  • 1 Manual
  • Japanese on the back side

Game Setup

Shuffle all the Wombat cards and place them face down within reach of all players. This is called the "deck."

Place the summary cards in front of each player with the "card list" side facing up.

Make sure there is space near the deck for the "discard pile".

The person who last saw a wombat starts the game. If no one has seen a wombat or if multiple people have, decide who will start using any convenient method.

How to Play

The first person to "capture" wombats worth a total of $15,000 or more wins.

Challenge

When it's your turn, make a challenge. Guess the bounty of the wombat at the top of the deck and announce it.

Then, flip over the top card of the deck. If the wombat you predicted appears, the challenge is successful. If a different wombat appears, the challenge fails.

Challenge succeeded

Place that card in front of you to "hold" it. Then, decide if you want to continue or stop.

Held Wombat cards have not yet been "captured."

If you choose to continue, perform another challenge. As long as you are successful, you can continue and hold as many cards as you like.

If you choose to stop, lay out all the held cards face up in front of you, making sure the bounty on each card is clearly visible. This signifies that you have "captured" the cards. Captured cards are now yours and cannot be lost.

Challenge failed

The turn passes to the player on your left. Any Wombat cards held up to this point are considered to have "escaped." Place all of these cards face up in the discard pile, making sure the bounty on each card is clearly visible.

Example

To avoid mixing up the cards you have "captured" and the cards you have "held," set them apart visually, for example, by placing them sideways.

Important notes

  • Three $1,000 Wombat cards captured are worth $5,000.
  • If you fail the challenge and the card you flipped is a $10,000 card, shuffle it back into the deck.
  • Once there is only one card left in the deck, shuffle it with all the cards in the discard pile and create a new deck.

The first person to "capture" wombats worth a total of $15,000 or more wins.

Wombats

  • Semba-kun - $1,000: A hard working low-ranking Wombat gang member. He is in charge of publicity on social media.
  • Sister Sanze - $3,000: The dependable big sister who loves punk rock and apples.
  • Brother Gozemba - $5,000: His daily routine is rubbing his butt against tree branches. He is usually calm.
  • Boss Mamba - $10,000: The leader of the Wombat gang. He is rarely seen. What he has in his mouth is not a cigar but a white, smelly branch.
