Quickstart

  1. Everyone gets a board and puts a yellow and pink card on either side of the Venn Diagram.
  2. Everyone writes the funniest things that connect both sides of the other players' Venn Diagrams!
  3. Read out the submissions to your board and pick the winners!

Warm Up (Don't skip!)

Put a Venn diagram board in the middle, and fill with one yellow and one pink Topic Card.

Next, everyone takes a marker and a few white Connection Cards. Fill out at least one of your Connection Cards to write something that's true for BOTH the yellow and pink cards — don't worry about being funny! Place any Connection Cards you write facedown on the board's center.

Once several Connection Cards are submitted, have someone read them aloud. Maybe a few were funny, but don't worry — now that you're warmed up, it gets easier. Okay, ready to play!

Setup

Tip: Pink cards that start with "This Person..." refer to the player judging that board!

Give all players a Venn diagram board, and put the decks of yellow, pink, and white cards facedown in the middle. Everyone draws a yellow and pink Topic Card and places them on their boards. Give all players a marker and a few white Connection Cards to start — you can place these cards face up in front of you!

Next, everyone orients their boards so the other players can read them — you'll be playing Connection Cards onto everyone else's boards except your own.

Start!

Using your white Connection Cards, start writing things that apply to BOTH of the cards on someone else's board. They can be funny, dark, or unexpectedly true — whatever you think the group will vote as best!

Once you write a card, put it facedown in the center of that Venn diagram. Then, draw another white Connection Card and keep going — you should always have at least three cards to work with! There's no limit to how many cards you can write in a round, and the more you write, the better your chance of winning!

Tip: The fill in the blank is just a starting point... you can cross out and edit cards all you want!

Pick Winners!

Once each board has at least four Connection Cards submitted to it, the round stops. (Some boards may have many more than four submissions — that's fine!)

The person whose board was the last to get four Connection Cards reads first. Remind the group of your Venn diagram ("These are things connecting "Flip-Flops" and "My Grandpa""), then read each submission aloud. (Example line as printed in the guide, using its sample Topic Cards.)

Pick your favorite submission — can be the funniest, smartest, whatever you liked best — and write a star on that card. Give the card to whoever wrote it, and they keep it as a token of their victory!

Moving clockwise, the next player reads out and judges their own board.

First player to collect 10 starred cards wins! (Or whenever you run out of beer. We don't care, we're not cops.)
