Components

Betting Mat

This mat is big enough to be the centerpiece of any lively party. The front side sports Vegas Wits & Wagers with several new casino-like betting options. The back side has the original Wits & Wagers Betting Mat for a more streamlined game play experience.

Betting Space Covers

These covers modify the Betting Mat depending on the number of teams. See "Set Up" for details.

Answer Boards

The seven boards are designed to replace the Answer Boards from your Wits & Wagers Party Game. The Elvis Answer Board, Betting Tokens, and pen allow you to add one more player.

Poker Chips

Add these chips to the Banker's stack; they allow for higher payouts. 'Cause you're in Vegas, baby!

Set Up

  • Divide into 5 to 7 teams. Team size can range from 1 player per team to 3 players per team. Each team gets a Dry Erase Pen, an Answer Board from this expansion, and both Betting Tokens of the same color as their Answer Board.
  • Place the Vegas Betting Mat, Vegas side up, in the center of the table.
  • Place the Betting Space Covers over the appropriate spaces based on how many teams are playing the game:
    • When playing with 5 teams: Cover both of the "5 to 1" betting spaces.
    • When playing with 6 teams: Cover the "2 to 1" betting space.
    • When playing with 7 teams: The covers are not used.
  • Place $100 chips on top of all dice graphics. The number of chips on top of each die should correspond to the number of dots on the die. (For example, the die with 3 dots should have a stack of three $100 chips.)
  • Choose a player to be the Banker. Place all the Poker Chips from the Wits & Wagers Party game ($100 value) as well as all the $500 and $1000 chips from the Expansion next to the Banker.
  • Choose a player to be the Question Reader. Give the Question Reader 7 Question Cards.

The Question Reader and the Banker will play in the game as normal players.

How to Play

  1. Ask a Question.

  2. The "Long Shot" Bet. After every team has submitted a guess, but before the answers are revealed, teams may place their Betting Tokens, but not winnings, on any team (even themselves). These bets are placed on the icon of the team on which they want to bet. This is the only time teams may bet on "10 to 1" spaces.

  3. Sort the Guesses. Flip the Answer Boards face-up. Sort them from smallest to largest. If two or more guesses are exactly the same, place them side-by-side, so each answer has its own betting space.

  4. Place Your Bets.

    • Place Betting Tokens and Poker Chips on the Answer Board you think has the closest answer without going over.
    • Place Betting Tokens and Poker Chips on the Red or the Black betting spaces. These bets cover any correct answer on the corresponding color. These spaces pay 1 to 1.
  5. Pay the Winners.

    • After all of the Betting Tokens are placed, flip over the Question Card and read the answer. The winning guess is the closest guess to the actual answer, without going over.
    • The Banker awards Poker Chips to all teams that placed Betting Tokens on winning spaces (See "Examples of Payouts" on page 5).
    • The Banker awards the team who wrote the winning answer by giving them the stack of Poker Chips on the die that corresponds to the round being played. For example, if the game is on the 2nd question, the winner of that round gets the two $100 chips from the #2 die. Sometimes more than 1 team will get a pay-out for writing the winning answer. The Banker pays the full amount to each team that wrote the winning guess with the duplicate pay out coming from the bank. If all of the guesses are too high, then no one gets the Poker Chips for that round. This stack gets taken off the mat and goes back to the bank.

After all bets are paid, each team takes back their Answer Board and Betting Tokens and erases their Answer Boards to start the next round. See page 6 for "Starting the Next Round."

Examples of Payouts

In this example, the Bride team (they wrote "14") was closest to the correct answer without going over.

  • This team bet on the winning guess. The winning guess is in the 3 to 1 space. The Banker pays 3x the bet. Since the bet is $200, the Banker returns the original bet, and pays out $600 to this team.
  • This team bet a "Long Shot" on the winning team. The winning team pays out 10 to 1. This player will be paid by the Banker 10x the bet. Since the bet is $100, the Banker returns the original bet, and pays out $1,000 to this team.
  • This team bet on red. The winning guess is on a red space, so it pays out 1 to 1. This player will be paid by the Banker 1x the bet. Since the bet is $100, the Banker returns the original bet, and pays out $100 to this team.

Starting the Next Round

The Question Reader reads a question from the next Question Card. (Repeating Steps 1 - 5).

For all subsequent rounds, teams may choose to increase their bets by betting with the Poker Chips they have collected:

  • Poker Chips CANNOT be added to "Long-Shot" Bets on individual teams. They can only be added to bets during step 4 (Place Your Bets).
  • Poker Chips must always be stacked underneath a player's Betting Tokens. This way, the Banker will know who placed each bet.
  • Teams may stack any number of Poker Chips underneath each Betting Token. There is no limit as to how much players can stack. However, players can still only place a maximum of two bets per question.
  • If Poker Chips are bet on the wrong guess, they are lost and returned to the bank. The Betting Tokens are returned to the team to be used for the next round.
  • Teams are not obligated to bet with Poker Chips. Continue play until you have completed 7 rounds.
  • If the bank runs out of chips, use personal items (like jewelry, spare change or small pets) as $2500 chips.

Winning the Game

The team with the most Poker Chips at the end of the 7th round wins!

The Other Side of the Mat

The other side of the mat has a gigantic Wits & Wagers board! When using this side, play with the original Wits & Wagers rules, but use the betting space covers as described on page 3. Sort the guesses as described on page 4.
