Quick Setup
- Set the Energy Affinity card in the area designated for planet-specific cards and place each explorer's avatar next to it.
- Shuffle, randomly rotate and flip the 4 energy nexus cards, then place them nearby until task setup.
- Place the Analyze Linked Data card over the ANALYZE DATA action on the resource board.
- Place the processor unit token and the 4 emotion / rubble tokens in the area designated for planet-specific tokens.
- Place glitch (purple-square) triggers on the timeline based on player count:
- 2 players: place triggers on both the 3rd and 6th spaces (shown below).
- 3+ players: place trigger on the 4th space only.
- Shuffle and set the 4 program tiles (glitched side face-down) in a line where all players can reach it. Leave some room to move these tiles around, as they will swap places and flip over during play.
Planet Primer
Overview: Smol Robot, Big World
Instead of a planet, LUNA takes place inside of . . . you guessed it! Something catastrophic has happened, and the only way to save LUNA is to repair her from within.
LUNA's survival rests on your ability to navigate her energy network, replace damaged components, and contend with her glitch-prone programming. All without her usual helpfulness.
Overlapping Environment
LUNA's insides are a maze of cables, circuits and specialized components. Mechanically, this means that no nodes are considered "adjacent."
Instead, the environment is spread out with energy nexus cards layered over the nodes such that the corners overlap the nodes, as shown here. Movement and other effects work differently than normal.
The Energy Must Flow
LUNA uses two forms of energy—plasma and data—which are represented on the 4 energy nexus cards as orange plasma channels and blue data streams respectively.
- Data and plasma flow from each energy nexus into the 4 surrounding nodes—charging them with that specific energy type.
- When instructed to flip an energy nexus card, flip it in the direction that maintains the orientation of the energy diagram. Only the type of energy should change.
"Linked" Nodes
- Nodes are linked if there is a continuous data stream or plasma channel between them, regardless of distance. More on this ahead.
Movement: Follow the Energy
Movement is done via the data streams and plasma channels on the nexus cards.
- Explorers travel along the data streams or plasma channels to any node linked to their own. You may move as far as you'd like along a stream or channel—triggering "when entering" effects along the way—but must stop if you reach an unrevealed node.
- You may only move along the energy type matching the half of the Energy Affinity card your avatar is on. Effects that swap your energy affinity move your avatar to the opposite side of that card.
- You cannot use the same energy conduit more than once in a single movement (i.e., no doubling back or infinite loops).
Example of Movement
- The explorer's node (A) is linked by a data stream to the Morality Codex (B), Emotional Matrix (C), and whatever node is out of frame above (D). They may move to any of these, assuming their avatar is on the data stream half of the Energy Affinity card.
- If they move all the way to the Emotional Matrix (C), they would go through the Morality Codex (B), and so would resolve its "when entering" effect.
Discoveries: Broken Components
Discoveries work differently in LUNA. Each environment node represents a different part of LUNA that is broken. Nodes can be repaired by completing an opportunity on that node and placing the discovery you gain from that opportunity onto the node.
- Gained discoveries are placed face-down onto your node to show it has been repaired. Effects covered by discoveries are ignored.
- Repairing nodes often alters those nodes' effects.
- Broken nodes do not block data streams or plasma channels and do not interfere with nodes being linked or not.
Persistent Opportunities
Persistent opportunities represent temporary changes to the environment that will be active until the opportunity is completed. They cannot be forfeited.
LUNA and the Program Line
LUNA cannot move or scan for resources but still tries to be useful. Her assistance comes in the form of the "program" which is made up of program tiles set out in a line.
- As part of survival task setup, LUNA's miniature will be placed on an energy nexus, representing where her attention is focused.
- Some effects will only be available on nodes touching her current nexus. Some effects will allow her to change which nexus she is on.
These four nodes are all "touching LUNA's nexus," which is relevant for some effects and abilities.
Once per turn, at any point on the turn, instead of moving or scanning with LUNA, the active explorer must RUN THE PROGRAM by taking the following steps:
- Roll a discovery die.
- Activate the effect(s) on each program tile, in the order they are laid out (from left to right), using the rolled result when required.
Effects may cause the order of the program tiles to change. There will also be effects that flip over program tiles, based on their position in the line ("first" is the left-most tile).
The back of each program tile is a "glitched" version, which is less useful and may have an additional negative effect.
When you RUN THE PROGRAM you must activate all the program tiles—even if they are glitched—unless an effect tells you otherwise.
LUNA's primary function allows some control over the program, enabling you to undo glitches or choose the die result instead of rolling.
The ANALYZE DATA action has been altered by the card placed over it during setup. It allows LUNA to collect 2 data from any node(s) linked to her current energy nexus by data stream. Reminder: nodes can be linked over long distances by lines of energy.
Glitch Trigger
When the time marker reaches a purple glitch trigger: each explorer whose node is not receiving the same energy type as their avatar's current energy affinity gains a distress!
Example: this player's current affinity is plasma, and their node is not receiving a plasma charge, so they gain distress. Had their affinity been data, they would have been safe, as the node is receiving a data charge.

Program Tiles
Each program tile reads "EACH TIME YOU RUN THE PROGRAM:" followed by its effect. The four front sides shown in Quick Setup step 6 are:
Wobble the Gyroscope
Select an energy nexus card and rotate it 90 degrees in either direction.
Alter Energy Streams
Flip over all energy nexus cards that do not match the die result.
Localized Internal Scanning
Place materials or data equal to the die result on a node touching LUNA's energy nexus.
Redirect Introspection
Place LUNA on a new energy nexus card matching the die result (if able). Then, an explorer on a node touching LUNA's nexus gains an insight.
Glitched Program Tiles
The back of each program tile is a glitched version. The glitched tiles are labelled [GLITCHED] and read "EACH TIME YOU RUN THE PROGRAM:" in the same way. The booklet's example line-up of tiles is shown as printed:
[GLITCHED] Energy Surge
Lose group trust and flip over all of the energy nexus cards.
Wobble the Gyroscope
(Printed on the booklet's example without a [GLITCHED] label.)
Select an energy nexus card and rotate it 90 degrees in either direction.
[GLITCHED] Error Code
Place LUNA on a new energy nexus card matching the die result (if able). Then, an explorer on a node touching LUNA's nexus loses a focus.
[GLITCHED] Random Access Memory Loss
Remove resources equal to the die result from nodes touching LUNA's energy nexus.
Environment Nodes
Each environment node represents a different part of LUNA that is broken. Broken nodes show a "THIS NODE IS BROKEN" banner and their effect. The booklet's examples show these node cards:
Organic Processor
- This node is broken — When repaired: Place Processor Unit below.
- The Processor Unit is unavailable until this node is repaired.
Morality Codex
- This node is broken — When entering: Flip over the fourth program tile.
Emotional Matrix
- This node is broken — When entering: Flip over LUNA's energy nexus.
Capacitor Weald
- This node is broken — When entering: Flip over the first program tile.
Memory Repository
- This node is broken — When entering: [hourglass icon]
The booklet does not name the hourglass symbol in its text, so it is reproduced here as an icon.
Fuse-Lamp Walkway
- This node is broken — When entering: [plasma and data icons joined by a swap arrow]
The booklet does not name this icon in its text. It is the same icon printed on the Energy Affinity card beside "(Swap an explorer's Energy Affinity)", so it appears to refer to that swap; the icon is reproduced as printed.
Planet-Specific Cards
Energy Affinity Card
The Energy Affinity card has a plasma half and a data half. Each explorer's avatar sits on one half.
- These explorers move to any node linked to theirs by plasma channels (plasma half).
- These explorers move to any node linked to theirs by data streams (data half).
The card's middle panel carries the Recalibrate Endosuit action:
RECALIBRATE ENDOSUIT [plasma-to-data swap icon] (Swap an explorer's Energy Affinity)
Analyze Linked Data
The card placed over the ANALYZE DATA action during setup. It reads:
ANALYZE LINKED DATA [data icon] [data icon] — From any node(s) linked to LUNA's energy nexus by data stream.
Introspective Analysis
The card reads:
INTROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS — Flip over a program tile. — OR — This turn, before you RUN THE PROGRAM, set the die result instead of rolling.
Persistent Opportunity Card
Placed near the program. The card reads:
PERSISTENT! Place this near the program. Ongoing effect: Each time you RUN THE PROGRAM, before rolling, flip over the first non-glitched program tile.
