  • 1 top (consisting of 3 parts)
  • 24 square picture cards
  • 24 round top chips
  • 8 glitter chips

Objective

Look closely and react quickly! Which motif is hidden in the spinning top? The player who taps the correct picture card fastest receives the top chip. The player who has collected the most chips at the end is the Zauberkreisel-King (Magic Top King)!

Setup

First assemble the top: push the spindle through the hole in the upper part and press it firmly into place. Then place the upper part onto the lower part, and the top is ready.

Before play begins, each player tries the top once. Set the top spinning with a quick twisting motion on the spindle. As soon as it is spinning, lift the upper part off. The lower part now spins on its own across the table. You may also lift the upper part off while the top is already spinning. Try out which method works better.

During play it is very important that the top spins quickly from the start. Players who are not yet able to spin it well may first play a few practice rounds.

Carefully punch out the square picture cards and the round top chips from the punch sheet. The cards and chips show the same motifs.

Distribute the square picture cards face up on the table. Place the round top chips face down in the upper part of the game box (the lid). Each player chooses a glitter chip, and the game begins!

Zauberkreisel Rule

The oldest player begins. Without looking, he chooses a top chip and places it picture side up into the lower part of the top. He covers the picture again with the upper part.

Important: no one may see which motif is inside the top!

Now the player spins the top, lifts off the upper part, and all players simultaneously guess: which picture is hidden here? As soon as you think you recognise the motif, quickly place your glitter chip on the matching picture card.

Only one glitter chip may lie on a picture card. Bad luck if another player was faster!

But: a tap is a tap! You may not move your chips once placed. Over time the top slows down, and you recognise the motif more and more clearly.

When everyone has placed their glitter chips, you may stop the top. The player whose glitter chip lies on the correct picture card receives the corresponding top chip and keeps it face down in front of him.

If no one has guessed correctly, return the top chip face down to the box. Take back your glitter chips and continue with a new round. The next player in turn may now spin the top.

End of the Game

Once all 24 motifs have been guessed, count your top chips. The player with the most chips wins.

If two or more players have the same number of chips, there is a tie-break: the other players choose a particularly difficult motif and set the top spinning with it. This round decides who becomes today's Zauberkreisel-King!
