Components

1 Triggle board, 21 blue pieces, 21 green pieces, 21 yellow pieces, 21 orange pieces, 50 elastic bands.

Objective

Stretch elastic bands in straight lines across four pegs of the Triggle board to create the most triangular spaces, so that you can place your pieces in them.

Setup

Each player chooses 21 pieces of the same colour and takes 12 elastic bands.

Gameplay

  • The player who can say "Triggle!" five times the fastest (and the most clearly) begins the game by stretching an elastic band in a straight line between four pegs on the board.
  • Play continues clockwise. Players take turns adding one elastic band to the board, always making sure that it:
    • is placed in a straight line,
    • is connected to four pegs, and
    • touches at least one other elastic band.

Elastic Band Rule

  • An elastic band may overlap another elastic band on the same straight line only if it is stretched over at least one new peg.
  • An elastic band may not be placed directly above another elastic band using exactly the same four pegs.
  • An elastic band may not be stretched over fewer or more than four pegs.

Completing a Space

  • When a player forms a triangle with the elastic band they have just placed, they place one piece inside the triangle to occupy it.
  • By following a good strategy, several triangles may be created when placing a single elastic band. In that case, place one piece in each of the triangles formed.

Winning the Game

The winner is:

  • the player who has placed the most pieces when there is no longer any possibility of creating triangles with the elastic bands, or
  • the player who first succeeds in placing all of their pieces on the board.

Two-Player Variant

  • Each player chooses one piece colour and only 10 elastic bands.
  • The game is played in the same way as the original game, stretching elastic bands over four pegs to create triangular spaces and occupying them with your pieces.
  • The game ends when both players have placed their last elastic band.

The player who has placed the most pieces wins!
