- 5 Dice
- 1 Set of Rules
- 1 Dice Tower
Objective
Players attempt to maintain as many chips as possible, trying give only a few while gaining as many as possible. To do this, they roll the 5 dice and cleverly select from the result in order to do so as well as they can in the following phase of discarding and gaining chips.
Setup
Place the game board in the center of the table. Each player receives chips depending on the number of players:
- With 2 players each player receives 18 Chips.
- With 3 players each player receives 22 Chips.
- With 4 or 5 players each player receives 25 Chips.
The remaining chips are put aside as a general stock.
Gameplay
Determine a first player, who takes all dice and drops them into the dice tower.
After his dice roll the player has to take at least one die.
He may choose more than one die. The dice chosen may show the same number or different numbers. A player also need not take all of a number rolled. For example, if three 4's are rolled, it is possible to take only 2 of them.
After he has decided which dice to take, he drops the remaining dice in the dice tower again. From this roll he has to take again at least one die, and so on. After all dice are taken (5 throws at the latest), scoring starts.
Scoring
For every die, chips must be placed on the game board. The following rules apply:
- The chips must be placed on the first empty space of a column (from top to bottom).
- On the first space of the columns with 1 and 2 you have to place 2 chips each per die.
- Chips which are placed on green spaces are taken from the player's stock.
- Chips which are placed on yellow spaces are taken from the general stock.
- For any 6's kept, players don't have to place a chip.
- When a player places a chip on a red space, he may take all the chips in this column. All other players have to give as many chips to the general stock as the red number on the arrow below the red space indicates.
Provided a column is emptied, chips for remaining dice of the same value are placed in the now empty column.
When scoring is finished, the chips stay on the game board and the next player in clockwise order takes his turn.
Special Situation During Scoring
It may happen that a player runs out of chips when placing them on the game board. In this case he may borrow up to 5 chips from the general stock, but has to give them back at the end of his turn. If the player can complete at least one column with these chips and thereby owns chips at the end of his turn, the game continues.
Example
- The first three spaces in columns 2, 4, and 5 are occupied by chips.
- From his first roll, the player sets aside the 4 and rerolls the other 4 dice. From his second roll, he takes both of the 2's. From his third roll, he takes the 6, and after his last roll there is no choice but to take the 2 that was rolled.
- No chip is placed for the 6. For the 4, he places the chip on the next empty space in column 4. Because it's a yellow space, he takes the chip from the general stock. For two of his 2's, he places two chips (from his stock) on the empty spaces in column 2. Then he takes all the chips from the now completed column 2. All other players have to give 1 chip to the general stock, according to the number in the arrow. Then, he must place two chips from his stock for his third 2 on the first space in column 2.
With this his turn ends.
End of Game
The game ends as soon as one player has no chips at the end of his turn. At this point, the player with the most chips wins. In the case of a tie, there are multiple winners.
