Game Components

  1. 4 Player screens (Goblins)
  2. Coins of 1, 5 and 10
  3. Game board, 2 sides
  4. 30 Soldier cards (arranged by gems)
  5. 54 Treasure tiles and bag (Goblin king bag)
  6. 6 Goblin Ears (first player marker)
  7. 1 Ring marker (for the weight of the board)
  8. 4 One-space tiles (Treasure "The Tiny")

Objective of the Game

Place treasures in the bag trying to connect gems of the same color to defeat guards and earn points; at the same time, observe the weight and space of the bag so that it does not become saturated and break it on our turn. Otherwise we would break the bag and the treasures in our storage will be worth half, while the rest of the players will get full points. At the end of the 3rd round all our profits are added up and the richest goblin will win.

Game Setup

  1. Place the board at the center, each corner pointing at each player.
  2. Each player takes a goblin screen and grabs 3 coins.
  3. Divide the cards of soldiers by the different color of gems and arrange them by number from the lowest on top to the highest (the 8 on top and the 25 on bottom).
  4. Give each player a one-space tile (The Tiny).
  5. Put all the treasure tiles in the bag and each player should draw 4 tiles at random, and take 4 other to place as the market.
  6. Place the ring marker on the board to mark the weight at 0 (this is to mark that there is no weight in the bag).
  7. The player with the biggest ears takes the goblin ears and becomes the first player.
  8. You are ready to start, my goblins.

How to Play

The game consists of 3 rounds where the players will put treasures in the bag until someone by accident breaks the bag in their turn.

The bag can be broken in two ways:

  1. By placing a tile that overpasses the weight limit of 50 (51 breaks the bag), or
  2. By the active player being unable to place a tile on the board for lack of space.

Be careful! Nobody wants to be guilty of breaking the bag. Try to play pieces so that the other players are guilty of breaking the bag and, in the process, why not, steal loot from the soldiers.

Turn Structure

During each round players will have their turn to play a treasure on the board. The turn sequence is as follows:

  1. Place a tile. Play a treasure piece onto the board and add its weight to the board. The first piece has to be in your corner, and the next ones will have to be adjacent to your pieces. When a player connects with your pieces you can also expand with his pieces.

Remember to always add the weight in the track!

  2. Steal from a Soldier. If the piece you added adds the same type of gems and becomes equal to or greater than a soldier requirement, you defeat him and take him as a prize. If it exceeds the number by much, you only take the one that is up to the top anyway.

The example on the page shows that by placing the piece with 4 blue gems, the player in turn defeats the soldier and takes his loot.

  3. End your turn by taking a treasure. End your turn by taking one more treasure from the bag or market. If you want to acquire a treasure from the market, you must first pay for it, placing 1 coin on each token before the one you want to acquire, the first being free. Then keep playing until someone breaks the bag. If you played your special tile (the Tiny), you do not draw new treasure.

Example of market: If a player wanted to acquire the last tile on the market, they would have to place 1 lingoblin on each tile before the one they wanted, or draw from the free bag. In the example on the page, the player wants to take the last piece of the market, so he places 3 coins on the previous tiles.

The source prints this step's heading in Spanish as "Estructura del turno" (Turn structure) above step 3; it is a leftover heading in the source and is rendered here in English.

Everyone has their own special treasure, x, and the value of x can be from 1 to 10.

1 (b). Optional: play the special treasure. Instead of playing a normal tile you can play the special tile marked with an X. This tile can be worth 1 up to 10 and can save you or bother the next person in turn. But you only have one in the entire game, so make the most of it. Remember that you do not steal a piece if you used the special treasure.

1 (c). Optional: discard a guard card with power. Instead of taking your turn, discard a guard you got on a previous turn and skip your turn or take a reverse instead of playing a tile.

End of the Round

If a player can't place a tile in the board because there is no space, or he would exceed the weight limit of 50, he needs to announce that he will break the bag and the round ends immediately.

All players will show their tiles and add up the total value of all their treasures. Even if they have negative numbers, they will subtract from their total this round. The player who caused the bag to break will only count half of his treasures.

Give to each player their total in coins, then place all the tiles back into the bag except for the special tile. A new round is about to begin.

Also give the Ears to the new starting player if there is one, and he will draw his 4 new tiles to start the game.

The special treasure gives you 5 coins at the end of each round, so maximum you can get 15 coins. But you can only use it once. Once you give it, it's lost forever.

The game ends after the 3rd round is completed. Then add up all your coins and the loot from the beaten soldiers.

If there is a tie, the winner is the goblin who has defeated the most soldiers.

If there is still a tie, (the source sentence is incomplete here; the printed text ends at "If there is still a").

The richest goblin will win!

Examples and Clarifications

Treasures and Negative Numbers

Within the game there are treasures numbered from 1 to 10, and in turn there are numbers that reduce the weight of the bag. In order not to complicate the game for the smallest goblins, we decided to prevent the bag from going to negative numbers. Instead the numbering will only remain at 0.

Reverse Treasure

The special tile called "reverse" when played does not add weight to the bag and causes the round to change direction in the other direction. For 2 players, the reverse token only acts as a jump and a token that does not add weight to the bag.

Taking Loot from a Soldier

The first guard of all the stacks is the 8. If you make a set of 8 orthogonally adjacent gems, you would take the guard. If the gem count is exceeded, you only take the one at the top anyway.

You can take multiple guards, but of different colors, if the conditions are met.

Negative Numbers at the End of a Round

If you were left with pure negative treasures at the end of a round and you end up with negative coins, you will not have to pay this money to the bank; you just don't win money this round.
