Can I put a skill die back on my mat instead of using a bad roll?
Yes. You may return a skill die to its slot and try again later; only red Bones must go in the Backup Plan. Active skill dice with a stated trigger, like Nugget's Parry, probably must be used when the condition occurs unless the text says may. Counters stay in their skill slot or go into an active slot until used up.
