  • 10 red construction cards
  • 23 sound cards

Goal of the Game

Be the team that builds the construction shown on its card fastest, by following the architect's instructions. The architect may communicate only with the sounds chosen for the game.

Action Cards (Les cartes-action)

The rulebook shows three difficulty levels for the action cards: Easy (green), Advanced (blue) and Expert (red).

Easy level (green action cards)

  • Red (Rouge)
  • Behind (Derrière)
  • Inside (Dedans)
  • In front (Devant)

Construction Cards

Each construction card shows a structure to build. The number of block colours used depends on the level:

  • Easy level: only the 3 green blocks are used. Perfect for your first game.
    • Example (illustration on the rulebook).
  • Advanced level: only the 3 green blocks and the 3 blue blocks are used. The sounds for this level are also added as "to the left" and "to the right", etc.
    • Example (illustration on the rulebook).
  • Expert level: the blocks of all 3 colours are used (9 in total). The sounds for this level are also added as "in front" and "behind", etc. In this level of play, the constructions are complex!
    • Example (illustration on the rulebook).

Setup

  • Choose a difficulty level by selecting the action cards and construction cards that match the level you have chosen:
    • Easy level: green construction cards + green action cards.
    • Advanced level: green and blue construction cards + green and blue action cards.
    • Expert level: green, blue and red construction cards + green, blue and red action cards.
  • Shuffle the construction cards and place them face down on the table.
  • Place the selected action cards face up on the table so that all players can see them.
  • Shuffle the sound cards and place them face up next to the action cards. This way, each action is defined by a sound.

Your prehistoric lexicon is now ready!

The rulebook illustration shows sample sound cards reading KONG, OOGA, BING and ARGH.

Two game variants are available: team against team, or against the clock.

Team Play (4 Players or More): Team Against Team

Setup

  • Form 2 teams. The teams may have different numbers of players. Everyone can play!
  • Each team takes the construction blocks of its colour according to the chosen level.
  • Each team chooses its architect. All other players are the "builders" and must follow the instructions of their architect to build the structure shown on the construction card.
    • Note: the architect may only use the sounds defined in the "lexicon" (the combination of sound cards and action cards) to communicate. It is forbidden to say other words or make gestures to help each other.
  • The 2 architects each take a construction card. Each team therefore has a different goal. The youngest player shouts "OOGA BOOGA"; the architects may then look at their construction card without showing it to their teammates, and begin giving their instructions.

How to Play

  • When a team has finished its construction, its architect shouts "OOGA BOOGA BATI!" and shows the construction card. If the construction is correct, the team wins the construction card!
  • Each team then chooses a new architect, and the game continues with two new construction cards.
    • Note: the losing team may decide whether or not to form a new combination of action cards and sound cards to make a new prehistoric lexicon.

Winning

The team that has won five construction cards wins the game. Its members are from now on considered the smartest of the whole Stone Age!

Two or Three Players: Against the Clock

How to Play

  • In this mode, the players form a single team and try to build the construction as quickly as possible by following the architect's instructions.
  • Set a timer to 5 minutes (Easy), 3 minutes (Advanced) or 2 minutes (Expert), and try to complete the construction within that time.
  • Take the construction blocks of the colour corresponding to the chosen level.
  • Choose the architect. All other players are the builders and must follow the architect's instructions to build the structure shown on the construction card.
    • Note: the architect may only use the sounds defined in the "lexicon" (the combination of sound cards and action cards) to communicate. It is forbidden to say other words or make gestures to help each other.
  • The architect takes a construction card and keeps it face down. After starting the timer, the architect looks at the card and begins giving instructions to the teammates!
  • As soon as the builder(s) have finished, the timer is stopped and the architect shouts "OOGA, BOOGA, BATI!" and shows the construction card. If the construction is correct before the time limit, the team has completed the mission.
    • Note: for the next round, the players may decide whether or not to change the combination of action cards and sound cards to compose a new prehistoric lexicon.
