The Flow

Step 1. One player gets the Prince Mochi card and assumes the role of Prince Mochi. After shuffling all seven Character cards, distribute one card to each player and place the remaining cards (if any) separately and face down on the center of the playing surface.

Step 2. Prince Mochi closes his eyes, while the remaining players take a look where Princess Tofu and Queen Tofu are.

Step 3. Prince Mochi opens his eyes and asks each player one question, as well as one additional question to any player of his choice.

Step 4. Prince Mochi tries to guess which player holds Princess Tofu's card, turns over the card and takes a look at the symbol on the card's upper left-hand corner. This symbol becomes the Winning Symbol for this round.

Step 5. Every player takes a look at the symbol on his/her Character card's lower right-hand corner. The player whose Character card shows the Winning Symbol wins this round and gets the reward specified on the bottom of the card.

Rewards:

One soybean icon: 1 Point
Two soybean icons: 2 Points
A special icon: Take 1 Point from Any Player of Your Choice

Step 6. The game ends when any player reaches a score of 7 points or more. If no player reaches at least 7 points in a given round, a new round starts from Step 1 after the Prince Mochi card is passed to the next player in a clockwise direction.

Game Rules

Prince Mochi can ask only three types of questions, as follows:

Ask any given player where Princess Tofu is.
Ask any given player the Character card he/she holds.
Ask any given player the Character card held by any other player.

The player being asked may first examine any other player's Character card before answering; however, he/she must answer according to the specification marked on the upper right-hand corner of his/her Character card:

An eye symbol marked F: the player must lie.
An eye symbol marked T: the player must tell the truth.
An eye symbol marked ?: the player can either lie or tell the truth.

Ending the Game & Scoring

The game ends when any player reaches a score of 7 points or more. The player with the highest score wins the game. The game is a tie if more than one player shares the highest score.

The Characters

Each Character card carries a colored heart, crown, or mask icon marking which of the three factions it belongs to.

Prince Mochi (Grilled Rice Cake) — heart icon

Traveled from Mochi Kingdom to Tofu Kingdom, where he met Princess Tofu who had sneaked out of the palace to play. The two became traveling companions and fell in love. After returning to his kingdom and reporting to his father (the King of Mochi Kingdom), Prince Mochi makes another trip to Tofu Kingdom to propose a marriage with the princess.

Princess Tofu (Silken Tofu) — heart icon

Grew up without her mother who died at delivery. Her father, King Tofu, indulged her to no end; however, he remarried when she was twelve years old, and died of poisoning shortly thereafter. Her stepmother took over the throne to become the present Queen Tofu, and started to mistreat her, which was the reason for her frequent escapades out of the palace.

Tofu Chef (Crispy Tofu) — heart icon

Used to be Princess Tofu's playmate when there were little, and he adores the princess as if she were his own baby sister. His mother was the former Royal Chef who was later accused of poisoning King Tofu, and the entire family was thrown in jail as a result. It was Princess Tofu who testified that she was caught sneaking a taste of the king's meal by the former Royal Chef at the time of the incident, and thus the chef could not be the one to poison the king. Her testimony saved Tofu Chef's entire family. The king's death by poison has remained a mystery ever since.

Queen Tofu (Fried Tofu) — crown icon

Has lived an obscenely extravagant lifestyle since her accession to the throne. She fell hopelessly in love with handsome Prince Mochi at the first sight of him, and started plotting to steal him away from Princess Tofu. This was why she issued a decree that Prince Mochi must, without making any physical contact, guess who the real Princess Tofu is from a group of veiled women, and must marry whomever he guessed, regardless of whether this woman is indeed the princess.

Tofu Minister (Spongy Tofu) — crown icon

Was Queen Tofu's accomplice in the poisoning and murder of the king. He was also the brains behind the scheme to make Prince Mochi guess who the real Princess Tofu is, and has been smuggling puddings made of industrial chemicals from Pudding Kingdom.

Tofu Guard (Firm Tofu) — crown icon

Was Tofu Queen's lover before she married the king. He is still deeply in love with her and would do anything the queen asks of him.

Pudding Spy (Milk Pudding) — mask icon

Is actually the princess of Pudding Kingdom. The three kingdoms, namely Pudding Kingdom, Mochi Kingdom and Tofu Kingdom, maintained a friendly relationship before the death of King Tofu. However, after Tofu Queen took over the throne, she not only started incessant invasions of Pudding Kingdom, but also accused Pudding Kingdom of poisoning and killing King Tofu. In order to spy on the secret behind King Tofu's death, Princess Pudding decided to disguise herself as a man and travel to Tofu Kingdom, where she chanced upon Prince Mochi and his entourage on their way to making a marriage proposal to Princess Tofu. She thought it would be terrible for her country if Tofu Kingdom and Mochi Kingdom were to form an alliance through this royal marriage, and thus decided to sabotage this potential union.

Tofu Maid (Egg Tofu) — mask icon

Grew up with Princess Tofu, who has treated her as if she were the princess' own baby sister. She covers for the princess during her escapades by dressing up as the princess to fool the guards. She met and fell in love with the spy from Pudding Kingdom the night that Princess Tofu and Prince Mochi met each other.
