Game Idea
The crocodile stands on a rotating disk. Together you stack a pyramid of animals on the back of the crocodile and have to move the rotating disk a little further after each successful stacking attempt. But watch out, you have to concentrate! The animals may not fall off. Also, don't forget to imitate the animal at the same time as you pass the shark otherwise another animal will join you and want to climb on top of the crocodile.
The aim of the game is to be the first to stack your animals.
Preparation of the Game
To prepare the game you need: the game board, the wooden disk, the rotating disk showing the tree trunk, the crocodile and the shark fin. First place the wooden disk in the hole in the center of the game board and then fit the rotating disk on top. The arrow of the rotating disk should point to any buoy shown on the game board. Now insert the crocodile into the slot of the tree trunk and the shark fin into the smaller slot so that it indicates that the shark swims in a clockwise direction.
Get the die and the wooden animals ready.
The wooden hemisphere shape will not be needed for this variation.
How to Play
Play in a clockwise direction. Whoever has drifted on a raft most recently begins.
You have? Then take any animal and place it in front of you. Then the other players one by one take an animal and place it in front of them. You continue until the animals are distributed in the following way: if you are two players each player takes 9 animals, if you are three players each one takes 7 animals and with four players each takes 5 animals.
The remaining animals are kept in the game box, ready to be used.
When it's your turn to pile animals you always have to do it in the following order:
- First roll the die.
- Then stack an animal. One by one a big animal pyramid forms on the back of the crocodile.
- After each successful stacking attempt turn the rotating disk towards the next buoy and at the same time imitate the animal which the arrow points at while the disk is being turned (i.e. the animal that the shark passes).
Now you really get started! The starting player rolls the die.
What Appears on the Die?
Two dots
You can stack two of your animals.
The question mark
The other players decide which of your animals you have to stack.
The hand
Take one of your animals and give it to another player. This player now has to stack it.
Don't forget: The player who stacked an animal has to move the rotating disk one buoy further and at the same time imitate the voice of the animal that the shark passes. Whoever forgets this, receives an animal from the game box as punishment and places it in front of him. If no animal is left in the game box, then this player was lucky.
Two buoys
Stack one of your animals and then turn the rotating disk two buoys further.
The arrow
You have to turn the rotating disk for a complete 360 degree circle. In order to remember where you started you can place the die next to the buoy where you started turning.
Don't forget: Whoever turns the rotating disk has to imitate the voices of all the animals that the shark passes.
The shark fin
Remove the shark fin and insert it back into the slot the other way around. Now the shark swims in the other direction and the rotating disk is turned counterclockwise.
Important Stacking Rules
- The animals must be stacked onto the crocodile or one or more of the animals on the pile and may never come into contact with the rotating disk.
- You may only use one hand for stacking.
Collapse of the Animal Pyramid!
If during a player's turn an animals fall off or the pyramid collapses completely your turn is over immediately:
- If one or two animals fall off the player who caused the collapse has to take them and place them in his provisions.
- If more than two animals fall off or the pyramid completely collapses the player takes two animals and returns the rest to the game box. Put the crocodile back in place.
- If animals fall off without anybody intervening, the animals that have fallen off are returned to the game box and if necessary, put the crocodile put back in place.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as a player is left without any animals to stack, thus winning the game.
Wavy Variation for Professionals
Instead of the wooden disk place the hemisphere into the center of the game board, and the rotating disk on top. Now the tree trunk with the animal pyramid will seesaw dangerously when the rotating disk is turned.
