Game Board Overview

A: 「Day track」Place the day marker here to represent the current day. There are 5 days and at the end of each day, move the day marker one step to the right.

B: 「Time track」Place the wood markers here to indicate the players' turn order. 1 day is 24 hours. Stack the wood markers if they are in the same space.

C: 「Victory point track」Place a wood marker here to indicate the players' victory points.

D: 「The world」It is composed of hexagonal spaces where player markers, impurity tokens, and branch shrine chips are placed to show the situation of the game. The spaces with impurity tokens are eroded and player markers cannot enter those spaces.

D*: The world's space icons.

「Main shrine」Located in the center of the world, it is the only space where impurity tokens are not placed at the beginning of the game. Each player starts from this space when the game begins.

「Level 1 space」Spaces with 1 star. They spread around the main shrine and are relatively pure.

「Level 2 space」Spaces with 2 stars. Facing the outer world, it is relatively impure at the beginning of the game.

「Level 3 space」Spaces with 3 stars. Located on the corners of the world, they are eroded with powerful impurities.

E: 「The outer world」Located outside the world where the impurities are so strong making them inaccessible. During the game, character markers cannot be put here. The outer world is not used during the game.

F: 「Purple impurity token storage」Place to put purple impurity tokens. Put the red, blue and yellow contamination tokens into the cloth bag and put it near the game board.

G: 「Blessing cards deck」Place the blessing cards here face up.

H: 「Play summary」

Player Board Overview

There are 5 unique player boards and characters. Each player board is paired with a specific character.

A: 「Faith track」Place a wooden marker to indicate your faith value. The minimum value is 1 and the maximum is 10. Ignore any increase above 10.

B: 「Character card space」Place your character card here.

C: 「Body」Place impurity tokens that you absorb here. Impurity tokens here are called absorbed impurities. The number in the heart icon is your resistance value. It is the total power of impurity that can be in the body. Absorbed impurities cannot be used in the , or actions.

C*: Impurity power.

Red, blue and yellow impurity have 1 power while purple impurity has 3 power. During the game, impurity tokens and impurity are interchangeable.

i.e. Red impurity token = Red impurity Blue impurity token = Blue impurity Yellow impurity token = Yellow impurity Purple impurity token = Purple impurity

D: 「Purified impurities storage」Place impurity tokens that you purify here based on their colour. Impurity tokens here are called purified impurities. Purified impurities can be used in the , or actions. You can have up to 5 purified impurities of each colour. If there are 6 purified impurities of a color or if you use them, put the red, blue and yellow impurity tokens back into the bag and the purple impurity token on the purple impurity token stack.

E: 「Branch shrine supply」Place branch shrine chips on the empty spaces. Branch shrine chips here can be used in the action.

F: 「Blessings」The presence of a branch shrine chip indicates that the blessing under it is available for that player. When performing the action, move the corresponding branch shrine chip to your branch shrine supply and gain the ability / rewards of that space.

The columns show the four types of blessing: red blessing / blue blessing / yellow blessing / purple blessing, which corresponds to the color of the impurity token required for the action.

The rows show the level of blessings from level 1 to 5. It also shows the faith requirement for that level of blessing.

Branch shrine chips here cannot be used for the action.

G, H: 「Player summaries」

Goal of the Game

The goal for every player is to save the world. There are two ways to save the world: remove all impurities from the world or build branch shrines at all important locations. Players can remove impurities from a contaminated space and protect that space by building branch shrines. You can also gain new powers by purifying impurities. The powers can be used for yourselves or for the branch shrines. All of these are reflected as victory points. At the end of the game, the player with the most victory points wins the game.

Game Preparation

Below is the preparation for a 3-4 player game. For a 2 player game, read page 12 after reading this.

A: Game board preparation

  1. Randomly determine the order in which each player starts the game.
  2. Put the day marker on the 1st space of the day track.
  3. Put all red, blue and yellow impurity tokens in the cloth bag and randomly put 1 impurity token on every level 1 space and 2 impurity tokens on every level 2 space. Then, place the cloth bag beside the game board.
  4. Put 2 purple impurity tokens on every level 3 space. Put the remaining ones on the purple impurity token storage.
  5. Place the blessing cards face up in a stack on the blessing cards deck.

B: Player board preparation

  1. Each player picks a character randomly and takes their corresponding character card and player board. If all players agree, you can choose any method to pick characters. Put the unchosen characters and player board back in the box.
  2. Take your character-specific blessings written on your player board.
  3. Place your character card on the space front side up.
  4. Every player chooses a color and takes the corresponding player marker, wood markers and branch shrine chips. Place the player marker on the main shrine space. Place a wood marker on your character card, on the 1 space of the faith track, on the 0 space of the victory point track and on the 0 space of the time track. When placing wood markers on the time track, make sure that the first player places his wood marker at the top and the last player at the bottom.
  5. Place the branch shrine chips on all empty spaces on the blessings and 1 branch shrine chip on the branch shrine supply.
  6. Each player takes 4 revelation cards to their hand. Put the rest back in the box.

Example of a 4 player game:

Game Flow

The game will be played over 5 rounds. Each round is divided into 3 phases: preparation, action and clean-up phase. However, the game will end immediately and the final score will be calculated if any of the following conditions are met:

A: Branch shrines are placed in all level 3 spaces of the game board (6 locations). B: There are no impurities left on the game board.

Phase 1: Preparation phase

The player who has the most branch shrine in the world gets a bonus and increases his faith by 1. If there is a tie, everyone eligible will get the bonus. Then, go to the action phase. In the 1st round, skip this phase and go directly to the action phase.

Phase 2: Action phase

During the activity phase, each player takes one action in the order indicated by the time track. The player in the space with the lowest number on the time track is always the active player. If there are multiple players in the same space, the player on the top will be the active player. Depending on the player's actions, the same player may continue to be the active player.

As an exception, players who move to or exceed 0 space on the time track will be skipped for the rest of their turn during this round. When all players move to space 0 or pass over 0 on the time track, the action phase ends and moves to the clean-up phase.

Active player's turn flow

  1. Choose one of the available actions. At this time, you can also play up to one blessing card.
  2. Choose the level of your action and advance your wood marker on the time track.
  3. Do the action.
  4. Your turn is over.

All actions are performed by advancing your own wood marker on the time track. If your wood marker moves into a space with wood markers in it, put yours on the top of the stack.

There are 5 actions: , , , and . Players can choose and perform the same action as many times as they like in a round (but only once per turn).

Actions have levels and depending on which level you choose, you move your wood marker accordingly. If you can't or don't want to take any action, advance your wood marker on the time track by 4 then move your player marker to the main shrine space and end your turn (In this case, you cannot play any blessing cards).

Choosing a level 1 action moves your wooden marker by 1, level 2 by 2, level 3 by 3 and level 4 by 4 spaces. In Round 5, no action can be taken that exceeds the 0 space on the time track. Every player has a total of 120 hours. As an exception, only if you can't or don't want to choose any action in Round 5, skip all remaining turns to move your player marker to the main shrine space and move your wood marker on the time track to 0.

Example: If your wooden marker is on space 23 and you choose a level 4 action, move your wooden marker to space 3. (Illegal in round 5)

To use the level EX actions, the active player must satisfy one of the following conditions:

  1. Use a blessing card
  2. Be in goddess form

After choosing an action, you can strengthen it by playing a blessing card from your hand onto the blessing cards deck. After playing a blessing card, your level 2 action moves your wooden marker by 1, level 3 by 2, level 4 by 3 and level EX by 4 spaces. You cannot use blessing cards when choosing a level 1 action and you cannot perform a level 1 action without advancing on the time track.

Only 1 blessing card can be used at the same time. You will get 1 victory point for each of your unused blessing cards at the end of the game.

Player's Actions

There are 5 actions: , , , and (From left to right). Players can only do , and action only when your player marker is on the main shrine space or spaces with your branch shrine.

action

The move action gives you move power to be used freely and as many times as you can on the following 2 things:

  1. Move your player marker.
  2. Absorb impurity tokens.

Level 1 gives you 1, level 2 gives 2, level 3 gives 4, level 4 gives 6 and level EX gives 10 power.

You can move your player marker around the world using move power. Moving to an adjacent space requires 1 power. Moving to the main shrine space from a space with your branch shrine requires 1 power. You cannot move into a space if there is a player marker in it unless that space is the main shrine space. You can pass through spaces with a player marker. If you start your move action from a level 3 space with no branch shrine, you cannot end your move on the same level 3 space.

If you move to a square with impurity tokens, you must absorb all the impurity tokens there. Red / blue / yellow impurity tokens require 1 move power per token absorbed. Purple impurity tokens require 3 move power per token absorbed. Absorbed impurity tokens are placed in the body. If the total value of absorbed impurity tokens in the body and the impurity tokens you try to absorb exceeds the resistance value, you cannot absorb them. This means that a move to that space cannot be done.

You do not have to use all of your power. All unused power is lost and cannot be stored.

Example 1: Red player uses a level 2 move action. After moving his wooden marker 2 steps forward, he uses the 2 move power he has to:

  1. Move to an adjacent space with his branch shrine (1 move power).
  2. Move to the main shrine from a space with his branch shrine (1 move power). Total: 2 move power used.

The result of this action puts both blue and red player markers in the same space. But since the space is the main shrine, this is legal.

Example 2: Red player uses a level 4 move action. He has 2 yellow impurities absorbed in his body. After moving his wooden marker 4 steps forward, he uses the 6 move power he has to:

  1. Move to an adjacent space with a blue impurity token (1+1 = 2 move power).
  2. Move to an empty adjacent space (1 move power).
  3. Move to an adjacent space with a red impurity token (1+1 = 2 move power). Total: 5 move power used. He still has 1 move power unused but he chooses not to use it and lose that 1 move power. The result of this action puts a red, a blue and 2 yellow impurity tokens in his body (1+1+2 = 4 impurity power). Since his resistance value is 5, this is a legal move action.

Example 3: Red player uses a level EX move action.

  1. Move to an adjacent space with 2 purple impurities (1+3+3 = 7 move power). Total: 7 move power used.

The level EX move action gives him 10 move power so this is possible. However, since his resistance is 5 and the impurity power of 2 purple impurities is 6, he is not able to absorb both purple impurities and therefore a move there is illegal.

action

The build action allows you to put a branch shrine chip from your branch shrine supply of your player board to the space where your player marker is currently on.

The branch shrine can be built when all of the following four conditions are met.

  1. The branch shrine chip is in the branch shrine supply.
  2. No player's branch or main shrine is located in the space where your player marker is.
  3. The space where your player marker is located is adjacent to the main shrine or any player's branch shrine.
  4. The total value of the impurity power of the surrounding spaces is less than or equal to the build power.

As the level of build action increases, the build power you receive will also increase and enable you to build even in impure spaces. Only one branch shrine can be built at all levels.

Level 1 gives you 2, level 2 gives 4, level 3 gives 7, level 4 gives 11 and level EX gives infinite build power.

When calculating the impurity power, the sides that are in contact with the outside of the world are considered as impurity power 3. In other words, add 6 power for a level 2 space and 9 power for a level 3 space.

When you perform a build action, you will immediately get victory points according to the level of the space: 1 point for level 1, 3 points for level 2 and 5 points for level 3.

A blessing card icon is drawn on the level 1 space adjacent to the level 3 space. When you build a branch office in that square, immediately draw one blessing card. The number of blessing cards on your hand is public information.

Example 1: Red player wants to do a build action on his space. On the surrounding spaces, there are 2 red, a blue and a yellow impurity token. The total value of impurity power is 2+1+1 = 4 impurity power. So, he needs to do at least a level 2 build action which gives him 4 build power. And since there is a blue branch shrine adjacent to the space, this action is legal. You do not need your own branch shrine adjacent to the space where you want to build a branch shrine.

Example 2: Red player wants to build a branch shrine in this level 3 space. There are no impurity tokens in the surrounding spaces but the level 3 space has 3 sides in contact with the outside of the world. So, the total in this case is 0+(3*3) = 9 impurity power. He needs to do a level 4 build action which gives him 11 build power to build here.

Example 3: Red player wants to build in this space. There is a yellow, a blue and a purple impurity token in his surroundings. Since it is a level 2 space, the 2 sides in contact with the outside of the world contributes to the impurity power too. The total in this case is 1+1+3+(2*3) = 11 impurity power. He needs to do a level 4 build action. However, as there is no adjacent branch shrine, he cannot build in that space even with enough build power.

action

The blessing action allows you to select one blessing with a branch shrine chip on your player board and get the reward. The level of the blessing action required is the same as the level of the blessing you choose. Level EX action is required to select level 5 blessings.

In addition, the faith value must be greater than or equal to the level of the selected blessing: level 1 blessing requires at least 1 faith, level 2 at least 2, level 3 at least 4, level 4 at least 6 and level 5 requires 10 faith.

Follow the following steps to do the blessing action:

  1. Select a blessing on your personal board and use the required number and colour of purified impurities.
  2. Move the branch shrine chip from the chosen blessing back to the empty space of your branch shrine supply.
  3. Gain the rewards.

Blessing action cannot be performed if there is no free space in your branch shrine supply.

Blessing rewards

Rewards are divided into:

  1. Instantaneous: one time benefit
  2. Permanent: active for the whole game

Level 1, 2, 3 and 5 are common blessings while level 4 are character unique blessings.

Level 1 blessings Red, blue, yellow: no rewards Purple: 2 action goddess form

Level 2 / 3 blessings Red: increase your resistance value by 1 / 2 Blue: draw a card, increase faith value by 1 / 2 Yellow: gain 2 / 4 move power to be used now Purple: 3 / 4 action goddess form

Level 4 blessings See character description at the end

Level 5 blessings Red, blue, yellow: gain 5 victory points

The goddess form

The character changes appearance and is in a state where it can exert unbelievable power. It is one of the most important mechanics of the game and has a big influence on the battlefield.

When changing form, flip the character card and place the wood marker in the space provided according to the obtained action point. In this form, you can select actions for all levels, including level EX, and no matter what level of action you perform, the time track will only advance by 1. After that, the wood marker indicating the number of actions on the character card is reduced by 1.

When the number falls to 0, flip back the character card and put the wood marker on it. The goddess form is over.

When you are in goddess form, you cannot change form any further. It does not increase the number of actions left. You can perform a purple blessing action in this state but it only moves the branch shrine token.

The appeal of the goddess form is that you can make good use of level EX actions and time. In particular, no matter what level of action you take, the time track will only advance by 1, so there is a good chance that you will be able to take multiple turns in a row and chaining level EX actions will influence the course of the game heavily. Since the chances of getting purple impurity tokens for purple blessings are limited, players need to be aware of each other.

action

There are 9 different actions available in the prayer action. On each level, choose either to use the A action or the B action. You can never choose both in one prayer action.

Level 1 A: Choose a red, blue or yellow impurity token from the body and purify it. Put the impurity token in the purified impurities storage according to its colour. B: Trade a purple impurity token from the purified impurities storage with 3 random impurity tokens from the cloth bag. Put them in the purified impurities storage.

Level 2 A: Purify a purple impurity token from the body. Put it in the purified impurities storage. B: Increase faith value by 1.

Level 3 A: Choose any number and colour of impurity tokens and purify them. You do not need to purify all. Put all purified tokens into the purified impurities storage. B: Remove from the game 1 branch shrine chip from your branch shrine supply.

Level 4 A: Draw a blessing card. B: Increase faith value by 3.

Level EX Gain 2 victory points.

action

The dedication action uses purified impurities to get victory points. The number of purified impurities you can use is determined by the action level. You can use any number up to the number determined by the level of the action.

Level 1 enables you to dedicate 1 purified impurity, level 2 up to 2, level 3 up to 4, level 4 up to 6 and level EX up to 10.

Dedicated purified impurities will be calculated according to the following dedication score table and the total victory points will be obtained immediately.

A: Red / blue / yellow impurities each gives ½ victory points rounded down. You need at least 2 to get a victory point. B: Red / blue / yellow impurities give 2 victory points when dedicated in a batch of three of the same colour. C: Red / blue / yellow impurities give 5 victory points when dedicated in a batch of five of the same colour. D: A single purple impurity gives 2 victory points. E: 2 purple impurities give 5 victory points. F: 3 purple impurities give 9 victory points.

You can use a combination of formula or a single formula multiple times in one dedication action.

Accomplishing revelation cards

During the game, if you accomplish the condition of the revelation cards in your hand, you can play them face up to immediately get victory points. You can do this anytime even outside your turn. You only need to satisfy the condition once and once the card is played face up, it will never turn back face down and cannot be scored again. Do not show your revelation cards in your hand to other players.

Extra rules

When you need to use red / blue / yellow impurity tokens in an action, you can use purple impurity tokens instead.

Rarely, if there are no impurity tokens in the cloth bag, no impurity tokens will be placed in the world. Also, the player will not be able to take any impurity tokens. There are infinite purple impurity tokens and blessing cards. If you need more of them during the game, use something else to represent them.

If the ability gained by blessings breaks the rule, the blessing ability will take precedence.

Phase 3: End Phase

Follow the steps below to prepare for the next round. In Round 5, this phase will be skipped and the final score will be calculated.

  1. Impurities grow Draw impurity tokens from the cloth bag and randomly place one on every level 1 square and two on each level 2 square and level 3 square.

Do not put any token in a space that meets any of the following conditions: A: There is a branch shrine B: There is a purple impurity token C: There is more than 5 impurity tokens D: There is a player marker

If there are no more impurity tokens inside the cloth bag, do the impurities evolve phase on the spaces that have already grown. Then come back and do the impurities grow phase on spaces that have not grown yet.

  1. Impurities evolve When there is a red, a blue and a yellow impurity token in the same space, put all of them back into the cloth bag and put 1 purple impurity token in that space. Leave the leftover impurity token in that space if any.

  2. Branch shrines purify Each player, starting from the player with the lowest position on the time track, will take impurity tokens from the cloth bag according to how many of his own branch shrines are on the game board. Put these impurity tokens in the purified impurities storage on your player board. Return all excess impurity tokens back into the cloth bag.

  3. Move the day marker one step.

  4. Go to the next day's preparation phase.

Game End Scoring

Game's end

When any of the following conditions are met, the game will end immediately and the final score calculation will begin.

A. There is a branch shrine on every level 3 space. B. There is no impurity token left in the world. C. Round 5 action phase finishes.

Therefore, depending on the player's actions, the game may end before the round 5 action phase ends. At that time, the turn of all players is skipped.

Final score calculation

All players get the following victory points:

  1. Blessing bonus. Each player gets victory points for red, blue and yellow blessings depending on the number of blessings they received. For 0/1/2/3/4/5 received, you get 0/1/2/4/6/10 victory points. There is no bonus for receiving purple blessings.

Example: Red player has done 3 red blessings, 4 blue blessings, 2 yellow blessings and 3 purple blessings. He will get 4+6+2+0 = 12 victory points.

  1. Blessing card bonus. For each blessing card in hand, you get 1 victory point.
  2. Branch shrine bonus. The player who has the most branch shrines on the game board gets 5 victory points. If there are multiple applicable players, all will be eligible.
  3. Savior bonus. The player who ends the game gets 5 points. If you manage to get both end game conditions at the same time, you still only get 5 points. A) You build your branch shrine on the 6th level 3 space. B) You picked the last impurity in the world.

The final victory point is the sum of the above and all the victory points obtained during the game.

Victory points during the game:

  1. Build. You get victory points directly according to the space level when you build your branch shrine.
  2. Blessing. You get victory points directly according to the victory point icon when you use the blessing.
  3. Prayer. You get victory points directly when using level EX prayers.
  4. Dedication. You get victory points directly according to your dedicated purified impurities.
  5. Revelation. You get victory points directly when you finish the requirements on your revelation card.

Game winner

The player with the most end points wins the game. In the case of a tie, if any of the tie players get the savior bonus, that player wins. If no one is the savior, the player with the most branch shrine in the world wins. If no one has more than the others, they share the victory.

2 Players Rule

In the two-player rule, each player plays two characters. It will be a 2 on 2. Two characters played by the same player will be friendly characters. The rules for 2 people that have been added or changed are listed below. For the parts not listed below, basically apply the rules for 3 to 4 people.

Game preparation

A: game board preparation.

  1. When deciding the play order at the start of the game, assign as follows. Player 1: 1st, 4th. Player 2: 2nd, 3rd.

B: player board preparation.

  1. Players randomly choose 2 out of 5 characters and receive the corresponding character card and personal board. Each player assigns a play order to their character. Of course, at that time, you can choose the character by any method.

  2. Each player chooses one color for each character and receives all player markers, wood markers and branch shrine chips of the selected color.

  3. Randomly distributes 4 revelation cards face down to each character and puts the rest in a box. Revelation cards cannot be exchanged between friendly characters during the game. Also, even if a friendly character meets the conditions of your character, it cannot be turned in.

Note: the source numbering in this section jumps from 1 to 4 and from 4 to 6 (steps 2, 3 and 5 are not printed in the translation). The steps are transcribed as printed.

Phase 2: Action phase

Player's actions Blessings, prayers, and dedications can be performed when your player marker is on the main shrine space or a space with your branch shrine as well as a space with your other character's branch shrine. Kirishima Hinata's red blessing level 4 ability applies to spaces adjacent to the space where the ally character's branch shrines are located too in addition to your own branch shrines.

Add the following below to move the player marker: Move from a space with the ally's branch shrine to the main shrine space requires 1 power.

Game end scoring

Final score calculation

Victory points earned during the game are earned per character, not per player.

Game winner

The victory points of the two characters played by each player are combined and the player with the highest total value wins the game. If there is a tie, follow the rules for 3-4 people.

Easy to misunderstood rules

  1. Allies cannot exchange or share impurities or blessing cards.
  2. Achievement of revelation card conditions must be achieved only by your current character, not including your other character.
  3. Calculation of branch majority is done for each character.
  4. Player markers cannot be placed on the same space, even if they are friendly characters, except for the main shrine space.
