Before the Game

The base rules section "Give each player..." changes as follows:

  • 1 double board, made of two halves. (After the first trial games with the regular board, you may try the more competitive variant on the reverse side of the boards.)
  • 1 castle, placed on the dark green space in the centre. (When playing on the advanced board, each team may choose the dark green hex with value 1 or the one with value 6.)
  • 3 random goods tiles, placed on the matching shared storages. Tiles of the same colour are stacked.
  • 3 worker tiles (for Team A) and 5 worker tiles (for Team B), plus 2 silver nuggets for each team. Place them on the matching shared spaces on the board.

Finally, each player chooses a colour and receives the matching 2 dice and 2 playing pieces (for victory points and for turn order). Each player uses what they receive separately.

Place the turn order playing pieces in a set order. In the first round this is: A1, B1, A2, B2. In later rounds, turn order depends on the positions of the pieces on the turn order track.

How to Play

Differences from the base rules:

  • Each player has only 2 personal blueprint spaces. Each team also has 2 shared blueprint spaces for its members (at the top, in the centre).
  • At any point during their turn, both members of a team may use the shared supplies: workers, goods, silver nuggets and up to 2 building tiles. However, they may not use the building tiles in each other's personal blueprint spaces.
  • Players may not move building tiles from personal storage to shared storage, or the other way round, once they have placed the tile on the board.

Rules

  • Team members may build on both halves of the double board.
  • Since the market board has no space for 7, 8, etc. ships, the following rule applies: when you build a 7, 8, etc. ship, simply place your playing piece on top of the others (if there are any) on the last space of the turn order track.

Scoring

Add up the victory points of the members of each team. The team with the higher total wins. If the teams are tied, the team with more unbuilt spaces left in its duchy wins.
