How do I tell a scenario-specific card from the generic one among cards with the same number?

Check the numbox on the back. The generic version has a blank flag; a white flag with a pictograph marks a scenario- or card-specific version, which you must take over the others if the pictograph matches your scenario or one of your cards. Several blank-flag copies of one number can exist, and you draw one at random.
