Objective
The objective of the game is to use all of your memory and your throat to get rid of all your cards and score more points than the other players!
Setup
Deal all the cards among the players, to the end. If in the deal some player ends up with one card more, bad luck for them. Each player keeps the cards received in a pile in front of them, face down.
NOTE: for a more dynamic game with 4 or 5 players, you may remove the cards with the symbol [a particular symbol shown on the cards: a circled cross-shaped icon].
Next, each player chooses a nickname for themselves. The nickname must be a common noun (table, hut, hat, ghost, etc.) and must be said out loud to everyone, so that all hear it and memorize it.
NOTE: Choose balanced nicknames! For example, if one decides to be "ball", the other preferably should not choose "otorrinolaringologista" (otorhinolaryngologist). Now, if one is "elucubration", it is no problem if the other is "conciliábulo".
The first player to receive cards will be the first to play.
First Round
Starting: The players, one at a time, in clockwise order, begin to reveal the first card of their pile and place it in front of them, so that everyone can see AT THE SAME TIME. This happens until two players have revealed cards with the same symbol (if no repeated symbols appear after the last player reveals a card, the players, always one at a time and in clockwise order, place the next card from their pile ON TOP of the first, so that only the last card played is visible). The players with the cards with equal symbols are then involved in a contenda (contest)!
The contenda: When someone opens a card with a symbol that is already open on the table, each of the two players involved in the contest must say the other's nickname as quickly as possible. The first to finish saying the other's nickname is the winner of the contest. The loser must take for themselves ALL the cards revealed on the table. The cards collected must be placed AT THE BOTTOM of the loser's pile, face down.
Restarting: The round restarts with the loser of the last contest. The players go back to revealing cards and taking part in contests. The player who has no more cards after a contest is the winner of the round and gains ONE POINT!
NOTE: If a player has no more cards to reveal and no equal symbols have appeared yet, the others continue revealing cards normally, skipping the turn of the player without cards if necessary, until there is a new contest.
Second Round
Preparation: In the second round all the cards are collected and distributed again to the players, exactly as in the first round. No need to shuffle ;-)
The nouns chosen in the first round remain the same, but each player must add an adjective to their nickname ;-) Therefore, from the second round, the nickname will be composed of two words (e.g. yellow table, old hut, big hat, scary ghost, etc.).
NOTE: The balance rule continues the same: the player with the nickname "blue ball" will have a great advantage over "inconstitutional otorrinolaringologista".
The second round happens exactly in the same way as the first, with the difference that, in contests, the nicknames are now longer (noun + adjective).
End of the second round: In the same way, the player who gets rid of all their cards receives ONE POINT! If the player who won the second round also won the first, and therefore has two points, they will be the winner of the match! If there are no players with two points each, a third round must take place!
Third Round
For the third round the preparation is the same as in the previous ones, but the players have two options to continue playing:
OPTION 1: take their nicknames and add a provenance! So now the nicknames will have three words (yellow Italian table, old Pantaneira hut, big mineiro hat, scary ghost from Azerbaijan, etc.).
OPTION 2: add a gesture to the nickname of the second round (for example, lifting from the chair while saying "yellow table", putting a finger on the nose while saying "old hut", imitating Usain Bolt while saying "big hat", etc.).
Everything else follows as in the other rounds, but the winner of this round gains TWO POINTS! After the third round, the player with the highest number of points is declared the WINNER OF THE MATCH!
Double Cards
Some cards in Telma have two symbols. In this case, either symbol is valid to start a contest. If a player reveals a double card and both of its symbols have already been revealed on the table, a three-way contest begins!
Either of the two players who have one of the two repeated symbols may try to say the nickname of the player who revealed the double card. At the same time, the player who opened the double card may try to say the nickname of either of the other two players. In the same way, the one who has the nickname correctly said first takes all the cards on the table.
The Surto
The card that contains the drawing of Telma is "The Surto" (the outbreak)! When it is revealed, a multiple contest begins, in which ALL the players participate. Then it is bedlam: ANYONE can say the nickname of ANYONE ELSE. In the same way, the owner of the first nickname said correctly takes all the cards already revealed.
Tie in the Contest
If all the players come to the consensus that there was a tie in a contest - that is, if all agree that the nicknames were said at the same time - the players who participated in the tie divide the revealed cards equally among themselves. If after the division one card is left over, it must be left in the center of the table face up, and will be taken by the next player to lose a contest.
