Overview
Ages 8+. 1-4 players. 20 minutes.
Contents
- 42 dice (14 each in 3 different colors)
- 18 double-sided platform tiles
- 1 Capstone tile
- 1 Capstone die
- 1 Base block
- 1 fabric dice bag
Setup
- Place the Base block in the center of the playing area to form the tower base.
- Set the Capstone die and tile to the side, within easy reach.
- Add all 42 dice to the dice bag and give it a shake.
- Determine your game difficulty:
| Difficulty | Objective | Standard Tiles | Twisted Tiles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Novice | 12 tiles + capstone | 12 | 0 |
| Normal | 12 tiles + capstone | 9 | 3 |
| Hard | 15 tiles + capstone | 9 | 6 |
| Insane | 15 tiles + capstone | 0 | 15 |
In a Novice or Normal game randomly remove 2 tiles of each color, or 1 tile of each color for a Hard or Insane game, and place them back in the box. Then, randomly flip the designated number of tiles to their "twisted" side. (See: "Twisted Tiles" for more.)
- Shuffle each set of colored platform tiles separately and stack them in a row, within easy reach of all players.
How to Play
Whoever most recently rode an escalator goes first and play continues to the left. On your turn, take the following 3 steps in order:
1. Draw & Roll Dice
Start by drawing 4 dice randomly from the bag and rolling them.
2. Choose & Place a Tile
Decide which of the 3 available tiles best utilizes the numbers and colors of the rolled dice. (See: "Dice Placement Rules" for more.) You are allowed (and encouraged!) to discuss this choice with your teammates. Then, place the tile on the tower, without any dice. You may rotate the chosen tile, however the edges must square up with the tile below it, unless the tile below is a Twisted tile.
Notes:
- If this is the first tile of the game, center it over the Base block.
- In the event that none of the dice you drew can be placed on any of the available tiles, you may put the dice back in the bag and redraw.
Twisted Tiles
When you add a Twisted tile to the tower, whoever places the next tile must align it with the dotted lines on the Twisted tile beneath it.
3. Add Dice
Add at least 1, but up to all 4 dice rolled, onto your placed tile. Dice may be added one at a time or simultaneously, however only the player whose turn it is may add them.
Dice Placement Rules
Each tile has number and color spaces that dictate where you can add dice.
- Any die (regardless of color) may be placed on a white space as long as the number matches.
- Any die (regardless of number) may be placed on a matching color space.
- A die may simultaneously straddle number and color spaces as long as it meets both requirements.
You may also add multiple dice to a number or color space as long as they're not stacked.
Tip: Stage your dice placement (and tile rotation) ahead of time to better visualize if it will be successful.
Once the tile and dice have been added to the tower, place any unused dice back in the bag and pass it to the next player, ending your turn.
Game End
YOU WIN if you're able to complete the tower. Once the final tile has been placed, the next player must complete the tower by successfully placing the Capstone tile and then adding the Capstone die. Congrats, time to up the challenge level!
YOU LOSE if at any time any dice fall off of the tower (including the Capstone die) OR if you run out of dice in the dice bag before placing all of the tiles. Reset the game and try again!
