Question Categories

Society, Fauna and Flora, Science and Technology, It Happened (History), Sport, Miscellaneous.

Setup

Each player takes an erasable marker, 5 blue tokens and an answer board of their choice. The question cards are divided into six categories. Form 6 decks in the middle of the table by category, questions face up. Shuffle each deck thoroughly. The remaining tokens can stay in the box and form the bank, or you can place them near the six decks; it is up to you. Blue tokens are worth one point each, yellow tokens are worth five points each. At any time during the game you may exchange 5 blue tokens for 1 yellow one and vice versa.

Note: If during the game you run out of tokens (this happens once, at most twice, in ten years), replace the tokens with something blue or yellow.

Course of the Game

The oldest player begins. In case of a tie, the woman begins. If there is still a tie, agree among yourselves who begins. The player whose turn it is chooses one category and takes the top card from the corresponding deck.

They decide which of the three questions they want to answer and read it aloud. Then each player secretly writes their guess on their answer board. As soon as the last player has written their guess, everyone turns their boards around, showing their guesses. Two identical guesses must not occur. The player who wrote the same number later must change their guess.

Note: Still nobody looks at the correct answer on the other side of the card! At this moment you must bet 1-5 blue tokens on any guess. You may also bet on yourself. As soon as everyone has bet on someone (or on themselves), turn over the card with the correct answer and the scoring phase begins.

Note: You must always bet on someone. A minimum of one blue token, a maximum of 5 blue tokens, or one yellow token.

Scoring

The player who was closest to the correct answer immediately gains 3 points from the bank. Players who bet on this best guess gain double their bet. Other players, who bet on a different guess, lose all their tokens. Return them to the bank.

Example: Petr bet 4 blue tokens on Monika. Monika bet 5 tokens on Lucie and Lucie bet 1 blue token on herself. Monika had the best guess, so she gains 3 points for the correct answer. Petr gains double the points for his bet on Monika's guess, that is 8 points. The bets of the other players are forfeited to the bank.

Next Round

Once scoring is resolved, the next player chooses the category (to the left of the player who chose the category last time). We recommend alternating categories so that the selection of questions is more varied.

End of the Game

The game ends once every player has chosen 2 different categories. In the very last round it is allowed to bet everything you have, a so-called all-in, and thereby reverse the result. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. In case of a tie there may be several winners.
