Winning the Game
In Ta-Da! the first player that successfully casts 6 Spells wins the game. You'll accomplish this by rolling your dice and attempting to match the various symbols to the spell you are trying to cast. You must be quick, however, as all players are attempting this simultaneously.
Set-Up
First, each player should take a Dice Cup and its 6 matching dice. Next, place the decks of Spell Cards and Feat Cards within reach of all players. Congratulations! Set-Up is now complete!
Playing the Game
Ta-Da! is played over a series of rounds. During each round you'll do the following steps, in order:
1. Draw Spell Cards
Each player should draw Spell Cards from the Spell Card Deck (known as The Spellbook) until they have 2 Spell Cards each (so each round, players should have 2 cards total). These cards are hidden from the other players, so don't let anyone see what you have!
2. Reveal Feat
Draw 1 Feat Card and read it to all players. Feat Cards are magical limitations placed on the players each round (the judges get bored easily) that they're required to do when attempting their spells. If at any point a player fails to follow the rules of the Feat Card, they immediately fail their Spell that round. Each Feat Card only affects that round of the game.
3. Choose Spell
Once players know the Feat for that round, they must choose 1 of their Spell Cards, read its name aloud, and then place that Spell Card in front of them. That is the spell they are attempting to cast this round. Keep your other Spell Card face down next to you; you may choose to attempt it next round.
4. Cast Spell
The moment we've all been waiting for! Players should place all their dice in their cup. When everyone is ready, shout "GO!" and roll the dice from your cup. Each time you roll, you may select 1 die (and only 1!) that rolled a symbol on your spell. Place that die over the matching symbol to lock it and put all your dice back into your cup. Once you've rolled and locked all the required symbols for your spell, yell "TA-DA!" and slam your cup top-side down. Congratulations! You've succeeded in casting your spell… but were you fast enough?
Each round, only the players who cast their spell fastest succeed!
- With 1-3 players, only the first player who finished succeeds.
- With 4-5 players, the first 2 players succeed.
- With 6 players, the first 3 succeed!
5. Score and Resolve Spell
Each of the players who succeeded in casting their spell takes that spell and places it face up next to them to show they've scored (remember, first to succeed six times wins!). Each player that failed to cast their spell takes that spell and discards it — place these failed spells in a discard pile next to The Spellbook.
A Little Trickery Never Hurts
Some spells have an effect listed on them. When you successfully cast this spell, you may choose 1 other player to suffer the effects of that spell! Sneaky, but not against the rules (as I said earlier, the judges get bored easily)!
