"Gates" Mini-expansion
Game Setup
Place a number of Gate tiles equal to the number of players next to the Central Board. In games with fewer than 4 players, randomly select which Gates will be used.
Example of a setup for a 3-player game: three Gate tiles are placed next to the Central Board.
Gameplay
Whenever a player performs the indicated action on one of the Gates, they flip the Gate tile to its closed door side and take the indicated VP. At the start of the next round, all closed Gate tiles are flipped back to their open side.
The four Gate tiles are:
- Independent Ally Gate: Whenever you Summon an Independent Ally, gain 1 VP. Then, flip the Gate tile.
- Loyalist Ally Gate: Whenever you Summon a Loyalist Ally, gain 1 VP. Then, flip the Gate tile.
- Add Gate: When you issue an Edict and add all 3 indicated items to Frederick's Palace, gain 1 VP. Then, flip the Gate tile.
- Remove Gate: When you Issue an Edict and remove all 3 indicated items from Frederick's Palace, gain 1 VP. Then, flip the Gate tile.

- Konrad IV (Frederick II's 2nd son): Gives a +2 VP bonus if you have 3 or more Loyalist Allies present on your Player Board (including this one).
