Players and Age
- Number of players: at least three.
- Age: from 8 years. The children should ideally be of similar age.
Setup
Each child receives a sheet of paper and a pencil. The sheet is divided into six columns. Across the top, write the categories: Stadt (city), Land (country), Fluss/Gewässer (river/body of water), Pflanze (plant), Tier (animal), and Name (name).
Playing a Round
One child says "A" aloud and silently counts onward through the alphabet until another child calls "Stopp". The child who was reciting the alphabet then says aloud the letter they had reached.
With this letter, all children try to fill in the six categories. For example, for the letter "M": Münster (city), Mexiko (country), Moldau (river), Magnolie (plant), Marder (animal), Maria (name).
Ending a Round
The child who finishes first calls "Stopp". The other children may not write any further.
Scoring
Scoring is then carried out for each column:
- If a child is the only player to have an entry in a column, they receive 10 points.
- If two or more players have an entry in a column, but the entries are different, each child receives 5 points. For example, for the city column, "Münster" and "München" both score 5 points.
- If two or more children have the same entry in a column, none of them receives a point.
The aim is therefore to be quick and to write down names that are not too common.
Variants
The game can be varied with other categories, for example instruments, fruit/vegetables, swear words, books, and so on.
The game can also be varied by inventing new rules.
