Note: With more than 8 players, form teams of two. For the rest of these rules, the word "player" also means "team" if you are playing in teams.

How to Play

The Reader

The player with the greatest general knowledge is the first reader. The reader role passes to another player after each question. Each player will be reader the number of times shown in the table above. All other players answer the questions at the same time.

Round

  1. Roll the die. The reader rolls the die to determine which value the players must identify:

    • 1: the smallest value
    • 2: the middle value
    • 3: the largest value
  2. Read the question. The reader takes the first question card from the pile without showing it to the other players, and reads the three propositions, starting with the letter that identifies each one. Be careful not to read the answers!

Example. The reader rolls the die and it stops on 2, so the players must identify the middle value. The reader then reads: "Age of... A – Yoda, B – Papa Smurf, C – Noah."

The example card shows, for each proposition, its value and a small number giving its rank among the three values (1 = smallest, 3 = largest): A Yoda, rank 2, 900 years; B Papa Smurf, rank 1, 542 years; C Noah, rank 3, 950 years.

  3. Place your tokens. Every player except the reader places two tokens face down in front of them: one answer token (A, B or C) and one bet token (with a number). The bet token is your level of confidence: the more confident you are in your answer, the higher the bet you should place. Each bet token can be used only once in the game.

  4. Reveal and score. When everyone is ready, reveal the answer tokens. The reader then gives the correct answer. In the example, the middle value was Yoda (900 years, compared with Papa Smurf at 542 and Noah at 950).

    • Players who had the correct answer place their bet token in a common pile in the centre of the table, face down and without revealing it.

End of the Game

When every player has been reader the number of times shown in the table (normally no player should have any bet tokens left), reveal the bet tokens in the common pile in the centre of the table. Each player adds up the values of the tokens of their colour. The player with the most points wins!

Tie-break: In case of a tie, the player with the greater number of correct answers wins. If there is still a tie, the tied players share the victory.

Small Notes

Heading translated from the French "Petites notes". Publisher's notes on the card data, as printed:

We have made great efforts to provide the most accurate data. However, it is very common to find conflicting information on the same subject. You may therefore sometimes find different values if you look for them yourselves. We have always used the best-documented and most widely accepted data. That said, the data in this game must in no way be taken as absolute references.

Also, all values are in US dollars, since that is the reference currency in about 90% of cases. To get the approximate value in euros, divide the amount in dollars by 1.3.

  • Players who did not have the correct answer return their bet token face down to the box. It will not be used again.
  • Next round. Each player takes back their answer token. The reader role passes to the next player, and the game continues the same way.
