Set Up

Game includes:

  • 1 Squashed cube
  • 1 King piece
  • 16 Pawns (4 each of Red, Purple, Green, Orange)
  • 1 Squash pad
  • 1 Special die

Getting started:

  • Open the hinged side (indicated by 2 small, red dots) to access the die, pawns and Squash pad.
  • Place the cube on Squash pad or any play surface so that all 4 sides showing colored spaces can be seen, but do not face up. (The top and bottom faces of the cube should have no color-indicated spaces.)
  • Place the King on top, in the centre of the cube.
  • Each player chooses a color.
  • For 2 player games, select one pawn color each or two pawn colors each.
  • For 3 player games, select one pawn color each.
  • 2 and 3 player games are the same set up and play as above.
  • Place the pawns on each of the 4 side panels as indicated by color. This pattern ensures that all players have an equal chance of winning.

Play

  • Decide who goes first by a roll of the die, seating arrangement, or mutual agreement.
  • On your turn, roll the die to determine how many spaces you MUST move.

You may move your pawns as follows:

  • Pawns may be moved in any horizontal or vertical direction.
  • Pawns may be moved in multi-directions (a combination of horizontal and vertical directions in one move).
  • You may split your move between any of your pawns at any time, but you MUST move the total of spaces shown on the die.
  • Pawns may be moved on to different, adjoining faces of the cube.
  • NO diagonal moves allowed!

2 Ways to Squash

There are 2 ways to SQUASH your opponents out of the game:

  1. Land on another player's occupied space.
    • Includes passing over an occupied space.
    • You may continue to move and continue to squash other players' pawns up to the total shown on the die.
  2. Land on any of the 4 spaces surrounding the King piece to flip the cube. The cube can be flipped in any direction to squash the pawns into the base on any side. This squashes all pawns into the base that happen to be on the side that gets turned to the bottom. Once the cube is flipped, replace the King to the top, at the centre of the cube.
    • One flip per turn.
    • Flip must be done at the end of the player's turn, after the moves on the die have been used up.
    • If there are any pawns in any of the 4 spaces surrounding the newly placed King piece, these players must wait for their proper turn to flip the cube. Upon their turn, if their pawn is still in one of the 4 spaces surrounding the King piece, they are then entitled to flip the cube.
    • Players MUST flip the cube if they land on any of the 4 surrounding King-piece spaces.
