Playing Alone

The goal of the game is to capture the maximum number of pegs. Place the pegs so that all holes are filled except the central hole. Moves are allowed only by jumping over one or more pegs, and not diagonally. A peg that has been jumped over counts as captured and is removed. The game ends when no further captures are possible. The fewer pegs remaining, the better the result. A result of three pegs left on the board is considered excellent.

Playing Two Players

  1. Each partner places 6 pegs of their own color in the two opposite extreme holes. The object of the game is to occupy the opponent's position with your pegs before the opponent occupies yours. Moves may be made one hole at a time, including diagonally, or by jumping over pegs, either your own or the opponent's. If, at the end of the game, a hole in the opponent's position is still occupied and you cannot place your last peg in that hole, the partner is obliged to vacate the occupied hole.
  2. At the start of the game the board is empty. The partners take turns placing one peg of their own color into any free hole. The object of the game is to place 4 of your own pegs in a row, including diagonally, before the opponent does.

Playing Two or a Group

The setup is the same as in the one-player game. The partners move in turn, and each removes the pegs that they have captured. The game ends when no further captures are possible. The winner is the one who has collected more pegs.
