  • 25 Battle cards: 5 cards in each deck: Chomp, Toast, Smash, Splat, Stretch
  • 55 Ingredient cards: 15 Marshmallow cards, 15 Chocolate cards, 25 Graham Cracker cards
  • 20 round Selection tokens: 5 each of: Marshmallow, Chocolate, Graham Cracker, and S'morage
  • 5 square S'morage tokens
  • 5 Tiebreaker cards
  • 1 game board

Objective

Battle for the best ingredients to create s'mores with the highest scores!

Setup

  1. Place the game board in the middle of the table.
  2. Each player chooses a color and takes all five Battle cards, the four round Selection tokens, and one square S'morage token of that color. The round Selection tokens stay facedown in front of each player, with the S'morage token off to the side. The Battle cards can be left facedown for later use.
  3. Separate the Ingredient cards by type (Graham Cracker, Marshmallow, and Chocolate), shuffle the decks individually, and place them facedown in three separate stacks on their indicated areas of the game board.
  4. Give each player a Tiebreaker card at random. The Tiebreaker cards used in the game depend on the number of players:
    • 3 players: Use Smash, Splat, and Stretch.
    • 4 players: Use Smash, Splat, Stretch, and Chomp.
    • 5 players: Use all of the Tiebreaker cards.
  5. Place your Tiebreaker card faceup in front of you, and place any unused cards back in the box.

Ingredient Cards

Ingredient cards are used to make s'mores. Each card has a different point value indicated in the lower left-hand corner (1, 2, 3, and 5), and these values are added up to calculate each player's final s'more score at the end of the game. You only score points for the cards used in each of your completed s'mores. Incomplete treats are worth nothing—they may still be tasty, but less is not s'more.

Making S'mores

You can make as many s'mores as you wish at any given time, but each complete s'more must have the following four Ingredient cards played in this order:

  • Graham Cracker on the bottom, played first.
  • One Chocolate and one Marshmallow, in any order in the middle.
  • Graham Cracker on the top, played last.

Chocolate and Marshmallow cards cannot be added to a s'more without a Graham Cracker. If you collect a Chocolate or Marshmallow card and cannot place it on a s'more, you can place it under your square S'morage token instead (see S'morage).

After topping off a s'more with the final Graham Cracker, turn over all the cards in the stack to signal that the s'more is complete. Go for a whole s'morgasbord!

How to Play

  1. Reveal the top card from each Ingredient deck on the game board. At the same time, without talking, look at the faceup Ingredient cards and decide which one you would like to try and collect this round.
  2. Once you have decided which Ingredient you want, take your corresponding round Selection token (Graham Cracker, Chocolate, or Marshmallow) and place it facedown in front of you. If your token is a S'morage token, you may take a card from your S'morage pile instead (see S'morage). You must have Ingredient cards in your S'morage pile in order to play this token. Players with matching S'morage tokens do not have to Battle.
  3. Everyone simultaneously counts down, "3—2—1—s'more!" and reveals their tokens. If your token is an Ingredient token that:
    • a. Does not match any other player's token, then you may take the Ingredient card you selected.
    • b. Matches one or two other players' tokens, then all players with matching tokens must Battle (see How to Battle). There may be multiple, separate Battles in the same round involving different players. Once the winner of each Battle is determined, the winning players take the cards they selected, while the defeated players come away empty-handed.
    • c. Matches three or four other players' tokens, then the selected card is discarded without Battling.
  4. Place any Ingredient card you collect on your s'mores (if allowed) or into your S'morage pile.
  5. Begin a new round. When any one stack of Ingredient cards is used up, the game ends (see Game End).

How to Battle

  1. Select one of your Battle cards and place it facedown on the table.
  2. All Battling players reveal their Battle cards simultaneously.
    • Chomp cards defeat Toast cards.
    • Toast cards defeat Smash, Splat, or Stretch cards.
    • Smash cards defeat Stretch or Chomp cards.
    • Splat cards defeat Smash or Chomp cards.
    • Stretch cards defeat Splat or Chomp cards.
  3. If there is a two-way tie, the player with the Tiebreaker card that matches their Battle card wins. If neither player has the matching Tiebreaker card, place the just-played Battle cards aside and Battle again.
  4. If there is a three-way tie, or if all cards played defeat each other in a circle resulting in no singular winner, place the just-played Battle cards aside and Battle again. Keep Battling until a single winner emerges.
  5. The winner collects their Ingredient card, defeated players do not collect any cards, and all players get their Battle cards back.

S'morage

If you collect an Ingredient card that you either cannot or do not want to place on a s'more, you can place the card in your S'morage pile instead, under your square S'morage token. There is no limit to the number of cards that can be placed in S'morage.

When you have card(s) in your S'morage pile, you may choose to place your round S'morage Selection token facedown instead of an Ingredient token at the beginning of a round. After revealing your token, you may move any one card from your S'morage pile to one of your s'mores, as long as the card is placed in the correct order on the s'more. Cards cannot be moved from complete or incomplete s'mores to the S'morage pile.

Game End

When the last card from any Ingredient stack is taken, the game ends. Each player counts up the total number of points within each of their completed s'mores. For each incomplete s'more, subtract one point for each Ingredient card missing from the S'more. The cards in S'morage are not counted. The player with the most points wins the S'mores Wars!
