How does block work — one attack only, stacking, weapon vs equipment?

Only the block on the weapon you attacked with applies, and only against counterattacks, not end-of-round attacks (designer). Block from other sources, such as adventure cards or abilities, can also be used, though the designer hedged on this. Every block is one-time, so adventure-card block costs command each time. Overflow damage must be taken in full, and you cannot block damage dealt to another crew member.
