A - Basic Game

Setup

Shuffle all the Recipe Cards, forming a single pile, and place it face down in the center of the table, within everyone's reach.

Place the King with the bell icon in the center of the table. Return the other Kings and the Helper Cards to the box. They will not be used in this game.

Each player draws four cards and, without looking at their contents, places them face down in front of themselves in a 2x2 grid.

Lastly, each player looks at and memorizes the two cards in the bottom row.

B - Objective

In the Basic Game, the players want to finish the game with the tastiest recipes, that is, the lowest total sum.

Player's Turn

On their turn, the player draws a card from the recipe pile and chooses one action:

  • Swap the drawn card for one of their cards. Discard the old one.
  • or Discard the drawn card and, if they wish, activate its effect.

Storing in the Pantry

As soon as a player discards a recipe, any other player may discard a matching one, but only the fastest player manages to get rid of their recipe. If a player is mistaken and discards a different recipe, they must return it, draw an extra card from the pile and place it face down in front of themselves, without looking at its contents.

Players cannot discard their last Recipe Card.

C - Starting the Banquet

When a player wants to start the banquet, they must shout "Sirvam o Rei!" ("Serve the King!") and pass their turn, instead of drawing a card. Then, each of the other players takes one more turn and the game ends.

End of the Game

All players simultaneously reveal their Recipe Cards, add up the values, and the one with the lowest total sum is the winner.

Full Game

The Full Game is made up of three games. Each game will have a different King, bringing new rules and objectives (see cards D to F).

D - Differences in Setup

Each player receives three Helper Cards (as in the example picture) and keeps them with them, face down.

Then, shuffle the King Cards and reveal one for this game (see card F). At the start of each game a new King is drawn.

Differences at the End of the Game

As soon as a player has said "Sirvam o Rei", all players secretly choose one of their Helper Cards and shuffle them together, forming a new pile.

As the recipes are revealed, the player closest to completing the objective of the King chooses and sets aside next to themselves a Helper Card from the pile. This is repeated until everyone has one card. In case of a tie, the player who started the banquet has priority, followed by the next players in clockwise order.

E - Winning the Game

After the three games, the players reveal the Helper Cards they have accumulated, and the one with the most helpers is declared the winner. In case of a tie, the one with the most cards containing 2 Helpers wins. If a tie persists, the players share the victory.

F - Kings

  • Bell (cloche) King: Wins the one with the lowest total sum among their recipes.
  • 11 King: Wins the one with the highest total sum among their recipes, without exceeding 11.
  • Skull and crossbones King: Wins the one who has the highest-value recipe among the lowest-value recipes of all the players.
  • Fish King: Wins the one with the lowest number of recipes with sea creatures (3, 4 and 5). In case of a tie, the player with the lowest total sum wins.
  • Purple card King: Wins the one with the lowest total sum among their recipes. When storing in the pantry, players do not discard equal recipes, but rather those of value immediately higher or lower.
