Build

Figure labels: Wolf, Sheep, Wool pile, LEGO® dice.

Aim of the game

Collect the biggest pile of wool to win.

Setting up the game

Before you start playing, build the game using the LEGO® building instructions provided in the set. Building the game teaches you more about the pieces and how you can use them. This makes it easier to rebuild or change the rules of your game later on.

Build the LEGO Dice using the colored sides shown below. The printed diagram shows six dice, each as a pair of colored sides: white / pink, white / green, gray / pink, gray / green, white / white, and a white side marked "x2".

Component note: this set includes a tool to help you take tiles off the LEGO Dice.

Place the wolf and all the wool in the middle of the table.

Each player takes a sheep.

Play

Playing the game

The youngest player starts. Play then continues clockwise.

On your turn, roll the LEGO® Dice and carry out ONE of the actions you rolled.

  • Grow wool (white face): Take a piece of wool from the pile and build it onto your sheep. You cannot have more than five pieces of wool on your sheep.
  • Double wool (x2 face): Take two pieces of wool from the pile and build them onto your sheep. You cannot have more than five pieces of wool on your sheep. If your sheep already has four pieces of wool when rolling Double wool, you can only build one piece on your sheep. The other piece stays in the pile.
  • Swap sheep (green face): Swap your sheep with another player's sheep of your choice.
  • Wolf (gray face): Move the wolf next to another player's sheep and remove all of the wool off that sheep. Return the wolf and all the removed wool to the middle of the table.
  • Shear sheep (pink face): Remove all the wool from your sheep and stack it in a pile next to you. That wool is now safe.

Auto-shear

If your sheep has five pieces of wool at the beginning of your turn, shear your sheep and add them to your pile BEFORE rolling the dice.

Winning the game

When the last piece of wool is taken from the middle of the table and placed on a sheep, all players shear their sheep one last time and add that wool to their piles.

The player with the biggest pile of wool wins the game.

Change

Your game – your rules

The LEGO® Dice gives you the freedom to change the game and make it your own. You can change the playing area, the pieces and even the rules. Every little change makes it more and more YOUR game.

The secret to changing a game is to change only one thing at a time. That way, you can see if the change makes the game more fun. If it does, keep it and then try another.

Changing a game is always more fun when done together. That way everyone knows the rules and knows what is being changed. Remember to make sure everyone playing is aware of any new rules BEFORE you start playing.

Now that you know how to play the game using our rules, try one of the following suggestions to change the game, and then try to make a change of your own.

Cutting costs

Every time you shear your sheep you must return one piece of wool to the middle of the table as payment.

Howling Wolf

Change the LEGO Dice to this configuration. The printed diagram shows the dice as colored-side pairs, in order: gray / white, white / green, green / pink, pink / white, white / gray, and a side marked "x2".

Whenever a player rolls gray you have to be fast!

  1. The first player to grab the wolf and howl gets to move the wolf next to another player's sheep and remove a piece of wool off that sheep. Return the wolf and the removed wool to the middle of the table AND
  2. The player who rolled may now add a piece of wool to his or her sheep.

My friend Mr. Wolf

Now when you roll gray, you can:

A. Send the wolf to another player and take one piece of wool off that player's sheep and add it to your pile OR

B. If the wolf is already placed next to a player, take up to two pieces of wool off that player's sheep and add it to your pile. Return the wolf to the middle of the table.

Invent and share your own rules

Challenge yourself, and see which new rules you can create. If they work, upload your "house rules" of the game to games.LEGO.com and share them with others. Or check out what others have created and try playing the game using their house rules.
