Shards of Everdark (Rumor)

Act I rumor card. Icons: three region symbols (wave, half disc, mountain) as printed.

Play this card at the start of a Campaign Phase during Act I. You cannot play this card if the Interlude is an available quest. While in play, this card is treated as an available quest.

When it started, you believed it to be a plague of the mind. Caring men and docile beasts transformed into heinous, debased creatures. Then you found the shards: slivers of darkness that ruin a man's soul. The shards and their influence are spreading, and only the purest of heart can stand against their power.

If this card is in play when you transition to Act II, the overlord gains the "Mockery" Overlord card. Then, place the "Host of Everdark" Advanced Quest card in play.

Host of Everdark (Advanced Quest)

Quest card, front. Icons: three region symbols (tree, half disc, mountain) as printed.

While in play, this card is treated as an available quest. If this quest is available after setup of the Finale, the overlord may draw 1 Overlord card.

It appears your efforts to stop the corrupting influence of the Everdark were not enough. Though you destroyed many of the crystals and cut off the source, the effect of the dark shards continues to fill the inns and taverns with tales of respectable people committing heinous acts. You suspect that a trove of the shards is hidden away and that it is only a matter of time before their power is unleashed in full.

Host of Everdark – Rewards

The reverse of the card gives two rewards, one for each side.

Overlord Reward – Broken Puppets: Exhaust this card during your turn and choose a knocked-out hero. Perform an attack with that hero as if he was one of your monsters in the space containing his hero token.

Hero Reward – Oversomers: A hero may exhaust this card at the start of a round. When this card is exhausted, each hero recovers an amount of [recovery icon] equal to the [heart icon] he has suffered.

This card does not refresh as normal. Refresh this card at the end of each quest.

Mockery (Overlord Event)

Overlord Reward event. Type: Event.

Play this card when a hero fails a [test icon] test. Place this card in that hero's play area. Each time that hero tests any attribute, he rolls 1 additional gray die.

If this card is in a hero's play area at the end of an encounter, the overlord may either discard it or return it to his hand.

Transcription Notes

  • Icons shown only as images on the card scans are rendered in square brackets: the "recovery" icon in Oversomers, the "heart" icon in Oversomers, and the failed-test icon in Mockery. These glyphs are not named in the card text, so they are left as bracketed placeholders rather than guessed. The recovery icon in particular is unresolved and needs checking against the base game's icon key.
  • The Host of Everdark quest and the Overlord reward/hero reward sides are transcribed from the card reverse and front as printed; the Shards of Everdark, Host of Everdark and Mockery cards are the expansion's entire rules content.
