Table of Contents
Components
- 4 Endangered Fish: Hammerhead Shark, Sawfish, Whale Shark, Napoleon Wrasse
- 3 blue Ecosystem Cards (numbered 10, 11 and 12)
Setup
Set up the base game as described in its rulebook, pages 2–3. Observe the following changes:
- In step 5, choose one of this expansion's cards as the blue Ecosystem Card.
- Choose 1 Endangered Fish for each player and place it on the field marked a of your Ocean, the field shown on the blue Ecosystem Card.
IMPORTANT When you place your first Sealife Tile into your Ocean in step 8, the Endangered Fish does not need to be neighboring it. You may place that Sealife Tile on any empty space in your Ocean, except the space occupied by the Endangered Fish.
Rules
- Your Endangered Fish occupies one space in your Ocean. You may not place a Coral Tile or a Sealife Tile on that space.
- When you place a new tile in your Ocean, it must be neighboring at least 1 existing tile. The Endangered Fish is not a tile.
Example: You may place a new tile only on the spaces marked with a check mark. They are neighboring an existing tile (a).
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as each Ocean has only 3 empty spaces left.
NOTE Even with this mini-expansion, all players still take the same number of turns.
Ecosystem Cards
The three blue Ecosystem Cards in this expansion are numbered 10, 11 and 12. Their text is transcribed below.
10 Danger: Gain 3 VPs for each completed Sealife Tile that is not neighboring the Endangered Fish.
11 Submerged: Gain 3 VPs for each completed Sealife Tile in the row of the Endangered Fish (the second row from the top). Gain 2 VPs for each completed Sealife Tile in the rows below it.
12 Companions on the Seabed: Gain 2 VPs for each different completed tile (Coral Tiles of different colors or different Sealife Tiles) on the 8 spaces neighboring the Endangered Fish.
Example card shown on the rules page (base-game card 01, illustration only): "Camouflage" — 2 VPs per completed Coral Tile with a completed Fish of the same color.
