- 46 Employee cards (2 sets consisting of 23 each)
- 38 Income/Loan cards
- 4 Player aids
- 50 Card sleeves
- 14 AI cards (For solo mode)
- 1 Guard dog (For 3-4 players)
Setup
Separate the double-sided Income/Loan cards into 3 piles by their values of 1K, 2K and 3K. This will be the Income/Loan supply.
Each player takes 3 copies of L2K Loan cards (Red/Loan side up) and places them in front of their own play areas. These are Loan debts that your companies start with, and should be cleared as soon as possible.
Separate the 2 sets of Employee cards (differentiated by the logo in the center) and assign a set to each player.
Before starting a game, make sure the employee cards are placed into the provided card sleeves as shown:
- The sleeve's opening is at the top,
- Employee is visible through the sleeve,
- The logo in the center is NOT inverted.
Each player shuffles their Employee cards and place them face down as a Draw deck.
The first player is the one who last left a job! The first player draws 3 cards into his hand, and the other player draws 4.
Playing a Turn
(in the exact order as follows)
- Decide if you wish to LAY OFF a card from your hand. Place the Laid off card aside to the Laid off pile. If this is your first turn, skip this!
- Play any or all cards from your hand one by one into your play area, in any order you wish.
- Discard all cards in the played area and any remaining cards in hand to the discard pile.
- Draw 4 new cards from your Draw deck.
- It is now the next player's turn. (clockwise direction)
When your Draw deck runs out, reshuffle your Discard pile to create a new Draw deck again.
Laying Off
In the game, you can only LAY OFF unplayed cards in your hand. Laid off cards are NEVER placed in the discard pile. Instead, place them aside as a Laid off pile. Unless you use a Rehire ability, these cards will never return to your draw deck again. Rehiring a card you laid off always brings it back to your Discard pile in its original 'not-yet-upgraded' state. Laying off of card/s is always an OPTIONAL choice!
NOTE: You may NEVER have less than 10 employee cards in your workforce (Hand + Draw deck + Discard pile). If you accidentally reduce to less than 10 cards, you lose the game immediately from having too thin a crew to operate with.
- When you gain/receive Income, always put them on top of your Income deck. Likewise for Loan, always put them on top of your Loan pile when you take them.
- When taking more than one Loan/Income card, the player drawing the cards decides the order in which to place them.
- Players may never look through their Income and Loan piles, except during audits. Only the top card is shown.
Upgrading Cards
There are always two sides to a card. Before you first start the game, ensure all your cards are in the provided sleeves with the 'not-yet-upgraded' side on top where the sleeves' openings are. An easy way to identify the basic side is their plain white background and the company logo in the middle is NOT inverted. Upgraded sides have a tinge of color in their backgrounds. In the game, there are cards that allow you to Upgrade played cards in your play area. Note that a card can never upgrade itself! If there are two such cards in your hand, then you may use one to upgrade the other after it has been played.
To upgrade a card, simply remove it from its sleeve and rotate it upside down so that now its upgraded side is on top. (Company logo will be inverted)
NOTE: Laid off cards are always reset back to their basic side. Remove any upgraded card from its sleeve, rotate it back to its basic side, and slot it back into its sleeve.
Winning the Game
There are 3 ways to win the game:
Technical Victory - When your draw deck is empty, you may call a Technical Audit. Look through your hand cards and discard pile - if you have at least 12 upgraded cards, you win immediately! Otherwise, add 2 copies of L3K Loan cards to your Loan pile and continue playing. Calling an Audit ends your turn IMMEDIATELY.
Economic Victory - When your draw deck is empty, you may call an Economic Audit. Look through your hand cards and discard pile. Count the total salary of your employees (cards) and add them to any Loan (cards) you owe. If your Income cards' total value is equal or greater, you win immediately! Otherwise, add 2 copies of L3K Loan cards to your company and continue playing. Calling an Audit during your turn ends your turn IMMEDIATELY.
Timed Victory - When a player has to take Loan or Income but cannot do so due to shortage, the game ends immediately. All players immediately count their total Income and reduce this amount by all their employees' salaries and Loans. The winner is the one with the most Income. If there is a tie, the player with the most number of employees left in the company wins! If this is still a tie, then it becomes a draw!
NOTE: When you call an Audit, it could likely be during the end of your turn and you have to draw new cards. However, sometimes due to card drawing effects, you might empty your deck in the middle of your turn. In such cases if you call an Audit, you immediately end your turn. This also means you do NOT get to play any more cards. As soon as you empty the draw deck from a card drawing effect, you must decide right away if you wish to call an Audit. If you succeed in the Audit, you win the game! Otherwise you just shuffle your deck afresh and draw 4 new cards, then your next opponent begins their turn right away. (Yes, you get the penalty of 2 copies of L3K Loan cards for the failed Audit)
Solo Rules
Setup is just like a 2-player game, but in place of the 2nd player, instead shuffle the 14 AI cards to form the AI main deck. In Solo mode, it is always your turn.
Playing a Solo Turn (in the exact order as follows):
- Draw 4 new cards from your Draw deck.
- Reveal the top card from the AI main deck.
- Trigger AI card now (if it is START type).
- Decide if you wish to LAY OFF a card from your hand.
- Play any or all cards from your hand into your play area.
- Trigger AI card now (if it is End type).
- Discard all cards from your hand and play area. (AI cards go into an AI Discard pile)
The AI cards have varying levels of effects, depending on the cards you have for that turn. All cards in your hand, and play area are considered for these. LAID OFF cards are NOT considered for AI cards that trigger at end of turn. After all 14 AI cards have been discarded, shuffle the AI Discard pile to form a new AI main deck again. If you have to discard AI cards but the main AI deck has run out, you still do so after forming the new AI main deck. When the AI main deck runs out twice, you lose the game. Similarly, you also lose when you face a shortage of any Income/Loan card. You can only win the game via an Economic Victory.
- Sales cards have no effect except for triggering various levels of AI card effects.
- In the same turn, if you play 2 cards that remove an opponent's top Income, you may put the top card from the AI Discard pile back under the bottom of the AI main deck.
- Winning a Solo game is just the beginning. Can you win with a score of at least 5+ Points? If you win with 10+ Points, know that you stand among the elites of the world.
- As long as you do not win via an Economic Victory, your score is 0. If you do win so, count the number of unrevealed AI cards left in the AI main deck. Each gives 1 Point. If, by miracle, this is still the first cycle of the AI main deck, add another 10 Points. You also gain 1 Point for every remaining $5K Income after salary and Loan deductions.
- For EASY mode, use all 14 AI cards
- For Medium mode, remove the 2 EASY AI cards from the game
- For Hard mode, remove the 2 EASY and 2 MEDIUM cards from the game
The Guard Dog (for 3 & 4 players)
Whenever a player is affected by the card effect of another player, put this Guard Dog in front of him/her. Anyone with a Guard Dog in front of them cannot be further targeted by other players' cards.
NOTE: The Guard Dog will NOT move if the one playing the cards is the player it is currently protecting.
3 - 4 Players (2 game sets required)
In a full 4 player game, the second player also draws only 3 cards for its first turn. The 3rd and 4th players both draw the usual 4 cards for their first turns. The 4th player (if there is one) is allowed to perform the LAY OFF action on his/her very first turn. Also for the quantity of Income/Loan cards to use for the various player counts, see table below:
| Player count | $1K | $2K | $3K |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 12 | 14 | 12 |
| 3 | 18 | 21 | 18 |
| 4 | 24 | 28 | 24 |
