Assassin (Ассасин) "In Cover" Card
Reverse-side card for the Assassin, titled "In Cover" (В укрытии), as printed on its own page of the source. It is not part of the personal deck list above.
Turn this card over after any of the following events:
- You made a successful attack
- You made a successful block
- You received at least 1 wound
- You received a status effect
Ashigaru (Асигару) and Hatiko (Хатико)
Shared rules for the Ashigaru and Hatiko, as printed on the Ashigaru and Hatiko pages. Hatiko is the Akita companion character that is played together with the Ashigaru.
Shared Concentration
The Ashigaru and Hatiko share a Concentration pool. Its limit is 3.
Playing a Card
Before drawing a card, look at the top 2 cards of the Hatiko deck and choose 1 of them to use this turn. Discard the other card face up.
Hatiko's Ability
In the Activation Phase, turn over the Hatiko card and place it next to the Ashigaru's ability card.
If Ashigaru is defeated, Hatiko loses this ability. Instead, he must use the top card of his own ability deck each turn.
Translation note: "Фаза открытия" (the phase in which abilities are revealed) is rendered as "Activation Phase", the English term the base game uses for the same phase.
Hatiko's Ability Deck
If Hatiko's ability deck is empty, shuffle all ability cards from his discard pile to form a new deck.
If Hatiko receives a stun card, shuffle that stun card into his deck. All stun cards drawn from the deck are immediately added to play.
If the number of stun cards in play for Hatiko becomes greater than or equal to his stun limit (2), Hatiko is defeated.
Translation note: the stun icon in the source is rendered as "stun card", the base game's term.
Hatiko Rules
Ashigaru chooses Hatiko's starting kamae.
Hatiko may apply only the effects of his ability cards and status effects.
Hatiko cannot be made to discard Concentration.
Hatiko cannot be made to change kamae or move the kamae ring.
Hatiko cannot be made to discard cards, and opponents cannot look at his hand.
Deck Building
Ashigaru and Hatiko each have a separate ability card deck. When building the decks, however, they count them as a single pool of cards.
Between both decks, there may be no more than 1 Jade card and 8 Gold cards in total.
The Hatiko deck may contain only Hatiko's ability cards (icon shown on the Hatiko card list). The Hatiko deck contains 12 cards.
The Ashigaru deck may contain Ashigaru's ability cards and common ability cards, but you may not add cards of forbidden schools to it. The Ashigaru deck contains 40 cards.
Source note: the printed totals are kept as printed. The printed Ashigaru list totals 32 cards and the printed Hatiko list totals 10 cards, while the rules text says 40 and 12. The source does not explain the difference; it is not resolved here.

Gaps in the Source
Points where the source does not give the full text. Recorded here rather than filled from memory.
- The text of the Assassin's base card (218), including its Focus-gaining special ability, is not printed as text in the source.
- The face texts of the individual Ashigaru and Hatiko ability cards are not printed as text in the source. They appear only as small card images, which were not transcribed.
- The school and card-type icons, the stun icon and the Concentration icon appear in the source as images. Where the text refers to them, they are rendered in words: "stun card", "Concentration", and "ability cards" for the Hatiko and Ashigaru card-type icons. The exact icon for each school is not named in the source.
- The printed Hatiko card numbers run 249, 250, 251, 252, 253, 254, 256. Number 255 is not on the list, and the source does not say what it is.
- The printed totals (Ashigaru 40 cards, Hatiko 12 cards) do not match the printed lists (32 and 10 cards). See the Deck Building note above.
