What's In The Box
- 1 game board
- 15 number tiles (with different numbers on each side)
- 6 dice
- 4 figures
Before You Start
- Place the game board in the center of the table.
- Shuffle the number tiles and distribute them among the trip wires in the house. It does not matter which side is face-up.
- Each child chooses a play figure and places it in front of the first number tile at the entrance.
- Get all 6 dice ready.
- You can place surplus figures back in the box.
Let's Get Started
Take turns playing in a clockwise direction. Whoever can recite the 7 times table the fastest goes first.
Roll all six dice at once. Look at the numbers rolled and compare them to the trap number on the number tile in front of your figure.
- Does one of the dice show the exact code number? Great! You have defused this trap!
- Do none of the dice show this code? Now it's time to put your math skills to the test. Use addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division to combine the numbers you rolled. Can you figure out the code number? If so, the trap is defused!
Now you can cross the defused trap: jump your figure over the number tile. But your turn is not over yet.
Pass all the dice you used to the next child in a clockwise direction. Roll the remaining dice again and try to defuse the next trap. You can continue playing until there are no more dice left or you are unable to solve a code. Then the next child takes their turn.
Example
Danielle rolled the numbers 9, 8, 7, 2, 1 and 5. By using the die showing the 5, she can jump over the number tile. She passes the die in a clockwise direction to Luke.
Now Danielle rolls the remaining five dice. She uses the calculation "7 - 6" to get "1." She jumps over the number tile and passes on the two dice.
Danielle rolls the remaining three dice. Unfortunately, she cannot figure out a combination that works and is unable to solve the code "18." She passes the remaining dice to Luke. Her turn is over.
Important Mission Rules
- There can be any number of play figures in front of a number tile.
- If your figure is at a fork, you can choose which path to take after you roll the dice.
- Each die can only be used once per equation.
Tip: There are often multiple ways to calculate a number. Keep in mind: the fewer dice you use for a code, the more possibilities you'll have for solving the next one.
When Does The Game End?
The first player to crack the last trip wire with the code 20 claims the comic and wins the game.
However, the round continues! If other players also reach the vault with the comic, all those who made it there share the victory.
Other Calculation Examples
- 5
- 3 + 4 = 7
- 7 - 6 = 1
- 3 x 3 = 9
- 8 : 2 = 4
You can also continue calculating with interim results and even change the calculation type:
- 2 + 3 = 5
- 5 + 7 = 12
- 7 - 4 = 3
- 3 x 6 = 18
Game Variations For Pros
- Whenever a number tile is defused and jumped over, turn this number tile over. This changes the code for this trip wire for the next player.
- The player whose turn it is may only roll the dice once. Using these dice rolls, the player tries to defuse as many trip wires as possible, one after the other, as skillfully as possible. The dice used are passed on in the same way as in the basic game.
- The game only ends when you have returned to the start after visiting the vault.
