Game Principles

Reply to a simple text message or email the way you would never dare to in real life.

Game Rules

  • Each player is dealt 12 black cards. The player who most recently called their mum is the first game master (maître du jeu).
  • The game master draws a red card from the pile and reads it aloud.
  • All the other players choose a black card from their hand and place it face down on the table.
  • The game master shuffles the placed black cards and reads them one by one, repeating the red card each time. The game master may also be helped by another player, who reads the red card and the black cards aloud to them.
  • The game master chooses the black card they prefer and gives a point (the red card) to the player who played it.
  • For the next round, the player who won the point becomes the game master. Players draw a black card to always have 12 in hand.
  • The game is played to 6 points, but it is strongly advised not to stop there and to keep exchanging sweet messages.

Bonus

At any moment, a player may sacrifice a red card they have won to exchange as many black cards as they wish.

Variant

Each time you score a point, hand a glass to the player of your choice.

Sample Cards

The sheet illustrates the card layout with the following examples. They are the printed sample texts, translated as written.

  • Red card: "You are late for lunch with management, what do I tell them?"
  • Black card: "I'm bringing the coke and the whores."
  • Black card: "I really can't right now, I'm on the toilet."
  • Black card: "Come smell my finger." (The sheet shows a photograph with this card.)
  • Black card: "I'd rather have lunch with the new intern, sorry." (dsl is the French abbreviation of désolé, "sorry".)
