Object of the Game
As on the TV Show, the object of the game is to collect the largest amount of money. This is done by winning money for correct answers; by buying "Instant Bargains"; and the "Sale Of The Century". The player having the most money at the end of a series of three games wins.
Contents of Game
Two question and answer books (over 90 different games) are printed in blue ink with red over-print to conceal the words. These words are revealed when the booklets are placed under the red window frame marked "Sale Of The Century".
Over $13,000.00 in play money.
Fifteen large "Sale Of The Century" Cards and 48 "Instant Bargain" Cards. These cards should be carefully broken apart before the first game.
One "Quick Response" bowl and four colored discs.
To Start the Game
One player acts as Master Of Ceremonies (MC) and banker for two, three, or four contestants. The MC shuffles the large and small cards and places them in separate piles face down. He gives each contestant $25.00 (four $5.00 and five $1.00) and one colored plastic disc. The "Quick Response Bowl" is placed in the center of the table within easy reach of all contestants. He removes the cover from the window box and turns to a page in one of the question books. The book is then placed on the build-up in the box and the cover is put on top of it. The red window then exposes the questions and answers, which should be seen only by the MC. There are five questions and answers in each of the $5.00, $10.00, and $15.00 rows.
Playing the Game
As on TV, the contestants must always be alert! The MC reads the first $5.00 question. All contestants who think they know the answer, quickly toss their discs into the Bowl. The player whose disc gets into the Bowl first, the one on the bottom, then tries to give the correct answer to that question. If he is correct, the MC gives him $5.00. If the wrong answer is given, the contestant must give the MC $5.00. The MC then continues the game by asking the second $5.00 question, etc. After the row of $5.00 questions is used, the game continues using the $10.00 and $15.00 questions. Note — If after a reasonable time, no contestant tosses in a disc for a certain question, the MC discards the question.
Instant Bargains
When an answer also reads "Instant Bargain", the MC announces (after the answer money is exchanged) "Instant Bargain". He then takes the top small "Instant Bargain" card and reads the name and cost (but NOT the full value) of the item on the card. For example, he would say "for $7.00 — a Refrigerator. All players who are interested quickly toss their disc into the Bowl. Only the one whose disc is on the bottom of the Bowl may buy the item. He pays the MC the amount and is given this "Instant Bargain" card. The full value of the item is then announced by that player.
Each item pictured on the "Instant Value" cards has 3 different values for similar items of the same cost. For example; The COST of a Refrigerator is only $7. The VALUES are $20, $200 and $450. The MC should not show the picture or reveal the value of the item, ONLY ITS COST, when offering it for sale. A player who does not have enough money cannot buy that "Instant Bargain." WHENEVER A PLAYER HAS RUN OUT OF MONEY HE IS OUT OF THAT GAME.
After fifteen questions and answers (five each of the $5.00, $10.00, $15.00), the players count their money. The one who has the most has the opportunity to purchase the "Sale Of The Century". Players count only their money not the value of their Instant Bargain cards.
Sale of the Century
The MC now turns over the Top four "Sale Of The Century" Cards. The player with the most money is (the winner of that game) now has the choice:
-
If he has enough money, he may, if he wishes, buy any one or more of the exposed "Sale Of The Century" cards.
-
If he does not have enough money to buy any of the exposed "Sale Of The Century" items, he may choose to "sell" the money he has collected for ten times his value. That is, he gives the MC for example, $72.00 and gets $720.00 from the MC. This money is put aside with his Instant Bargain cards to be totaled later.
-
Regardless of how much money he has collected, the player may choose to keep the money, hoping to win again in the second or third game and purchase a costlier "Sale Of The Century" Item.
-
If he chooses to keep the money, he selects one "Sale Of The Century" Card to save on the table and the other three are discarded. For each new game, 3 more cards are turned over.
Winning the Game
After each game, the players set their money and "Instant Bargain" cards aside and receive $25.00 again from the MC to start a new game. In each new game, only the winner of that game is eligible for the "Sale Of The Century" using the money won on that game plus any previous "Question and Answer" winnings.
After a series of THREE GAMES are played, the player with the highest total, adding his money and the value of all of his "Instant Bargain" cards and "Sale Of The Century Cards" (if he has any) WINS!!
